Finding Them Homes - Dedicated Volunteer Group for Rescue Dogs

Group is completely operated by volunteers. Do an excellent job of bringing down dogs from extreme northern Ontario locations, getting them medical care, fostering them & arranging for adoption. Even though their expenses are high, their adoption fee is very reasonable. Can be a frustrating process if you want a puppy, as so many people apply. It's basically who gets an acceptable application in first. I heard they get 50 to 100 applications per puppy & in the space of a day. A for-profit organization would have trouble keeping up with that, & often they have a litter of 4 to 6 puppies all b available for adoption at once. If you are patient, you do get to adopt a dog that has already been checked out by a Vet, begun training with a foster parent, & you get a lot of good information about the personality of the rescue dog/puppy you are adopting. Plus, they are they to support you with experienced advice to make the a smooth transition into your home. Great rescue group.

My original review was: “I had such an amazing experience with Finding Them Homes. I adopted my pup Harrison from them and the experience was quick and painless. I first filled out an application for my young pup and in less than 24 hours I had a response. The next step was a house visit, which also happened around the 24 hour mark. The lady that came to do the house visit was such a kind woman and I felt super comfortable having her in my home. After the home visit we quickly received an email stating that we had been approved to adopt our dog, and were given a date and time to do so. We picked up our dog, and voila! If we were to adopt again for a second dog we would definitely use them” But after a very awful interaction with a member of this rescue, that review is no longer true. After my own issues with this rescue, I now see why people speak so poorly of them and have so many complaints to share. I have volunteered my time with this rescue, and but had nothing but nice things to say about everyone in it until I was accused of ‘verbally abusing’ my dog. Words cannot explain for offensive this accusation was. I’ve had my dog for a year now, and every chance I got I would post on the page to keep everyone updated on how well my dog was doing, and that is the response I got in return. I love my dog more than anything in this world and he is very greatly taken care of, and he is definitely not ‘verbally abused.’

Finding Them Homes was recommended to us by a friend who had a great experience with this agency and I’m so glad this is the route we chose to go. I appreciated the application process because it demonstrated the care they have for the dogs but also high level of professionalism needed to maintain the purpose and standards of the organization. I have great respect for the work that goes into rescuing dogs and all done by volunteers - such dedication and big hearts! Everyone involved with the process was committed to the purpose of rescuing dogs and finding the best homes for them. We are thrilled with our dog, who’s been with us for just over a year now. She is the most wonderful dog and we’re grateful for all that Finding Them Homes has done for her and us as well as all the dogs they rescue.

Great organization! We adopted our beautiful boy from them. The adoption process can be lengthy, however this is a GOOD thing. They want to find the perfect home for their rescues to ensure it is their forever homes, which is exactly the way it should be. I liked that the process was thorough and professional as it made me feel like I was adopting my pet from a reputable place, which it is. I highly recommend this organization!

We adopted our dog as a puppy about a 1.5 years ago from Finding Them Homes. Our experience with them has been great. They have a thorough and detailed application process (including a home visit), which made me confident that they are invested in finding true forever homes for the dogs they rescue. Once you are approved for the adoption things move very quickly, so be sure you are prepared! I appreciate their efforts to remain updated on the dogs they adopt out and create a supportive community among their clients. All volunteers we have interacted with were friendly and knowledgeable. I like that they do not hide or minimize issues some dogs might have so people know what they are getting into. Our dog was a puppy when we got him, but we could tell that they had been starting training and socialized the dogs well in their foster homes. Finally, I appreciate that they are respectful with the communities they rescue dogs from as well as providing vet clinics and educating people on northern dog issues in a way that is not condescending, but appears to be more of a true partnership.

Thank you so much to this amazing organization for all the hard work and dedication they provide. We just adopted a sweet little guy from Sandy Lake. I love the efforts and checking that goes into the adoptions. They try their very best to make sure to find good homes. The right homes will appreciate this. Thank you everyone!
