Red Dawn Martial Arts is the best! Our son started there when he was 4 (in 2013) and spent about a year and a bit there. He's always had anxiety and confidence issues, and we discussed this with Red Dawn prior to him starting and they listened to us and said they'll work with him. They did amazing! They were patient and always understanding of his situation. After a little over a year, the class schedules (times) changed, so we had to pull our son out because it didn't fit our schedule. We spent two years in other Tae Kwon Do/Karate centre, and nothing compared. We dropped by Red Dawn again last summer to see if the schedules had changed and would work for us, and they did, so we put him back in. Again, we discussed the anxiety our son has, and Red Dawn has been great again. Our son has started opening up and loves going to class because of Masters Marcano, Elloitt and Maloney. I don't know how they have the patience to deal with so many kids at once, but they are great at what they do. They never lose their patience, are very encouraging and caring. Anita has also gone out of her way to speak with our son and encourage him on multiple occasions when he was having a bad day. We can't say enough good things about Red Dawn and the staff. We recommend it to everyone!

Unprofessional and unqualified teenage "instructor" - my kids spent several months to learn Weapon with a teenage "instructor", however no progress and improvement at all. I kindly asked the "instructor' to let my kids know which area they should work on and perhaps correct their mistake as they may not know. I was so shocked to hear very rude response from this "instructor" - "I don't babysit.. it's not my problem.. why others (she referred to those 14+ years old students) did well not your kid" and then she turned around to blame my kids for her unqualified teaching. The business owner was there listening her insulting my kids so long without stopping her. Before you send your kids to here, please be aware that kids may get frustrated and lost confident as they don't know what they should improve...

A year ago, I would have rated Red Dawn Martial Arts and Kickboxing Centre a 4 because that is just me, however, they (Masters Elliott, Marcano, Maloney and Corazza) have all been nothing but supportive and nurturing. My son was bullied at school and therefore, was unsure of himself. Since signing him up in July 2015, he has blossomed into a more self-aware individual. He still has a long way to go and that is fine with me as he is young and will get where he needs to be. I believe that you get what you want out of every experience. So you can either sign you child up and bring them in for their classes, sit and watch them and leave, or you can bond with your child's Masters in order to open a line of communication in order to set goals - how are they going to know what you want if you don't say it? Some come just for the fitness aspect, while others, like my son, want to compete and get to their 1st degree black belt. Master Elliott teaches the youngest students (4 to 6), handles new client registrations, as well as serving as a personal coach in health and fitness and that is just scratching the surface. All of this I have personally witnessed as the younger classes are held earlier in the afternoon and then at 6 pm the older kids under 10 have class. When my son signed up, he was in that 6 pm class. I had an opportunity to bond with many of the parents and even children from the early class when I would arrive early for my son's class to start. My son is now in the 7 pm class due to his age. Masters Marcano, Maloney and Corazza all teach during that time while Master Elliot is either going to teach the kickboxing class or on a Tuesday, get some paperwork done. I have grown very comfortable within in this establishment and over time have sought out advice for my son's training and attitude from pretty much all the Masters and they in turn have offered the required support/advice. They serve as wonderful mentors if you seek them out and ask. Most recently, both my daughter and I have signed up for kick boxing classes and are having a great time working out and having fun! This would not be possible if I were not comfortable (I have never been in a group workout and hate the gym environment). The reason that I have been able to get past those feelings is because Red Dawn has an open-door approach to teaching and learning which breeds a family-like environment. Like I said earlier, you get what you want out of a service. There are far too many people coming and going for every child to get one-on-one attention (just like in school) so if you see something you want corrected or just have a simple question, approach any one of the Masters and they are always happy to assist - and if they can't...they either direct you to the Master who can or they get back to you. That has been my experience anyway. The receptionist has many duties, such as acting concierge, childcare provider for the afterschool program, tracking attendance, completing reports for the parents to see how their children are doing in the afterschool program - to name a few. I have walked in and she can't give me her direct attention and I move on and wait until she is free. This is a business that is being run and no one who works there is just sitting around or hiding under the radar. I love this place, they are like a family to me and I would highly recommend any parent sign their child up and at least try it out for themselves to see. Added bonus alert: it is a peanut-free environment in every room! For the above reasons, and trust me there is so much more positive to be said, I give them a 5!
