This is a very educated place for my 11-year old nephew. He wants to go every summer!

My son has been in Chatham Day School from first grade through third grade (currently), and our overall experience has been excellent, both from an academic and social standpoint. The small class sizes and excellent teaching staff allow children to be taught in a differentiated manner and at their own pace, and this also applies for children that are ahead of the standard curriculum. I chose the school because of their ambitious math curriculum in the lower school, as well as their personalized reading and writing teaching approach that provides children with material at the right level. The group of children and parents have been phenomenal: my son was welcomed from the start, and he really feels happy in his class. The school has recently expanded its facilities with a new cafeteria and kitchen, new upper school facilities, new art room, and new theater. They offer after school activities on site as well as very flexible extended care options for working parents. The school also offers three different summer camp programs (two that are run independently), which gear towards the STEAM topics as well as a standard summer camp.

The school leadership is unprofessional beyond words. They are not proactive and take no responsibility for their own poor management, procedures, decision making and actions. On the second to last day of the school year, they suggested (via email) failing my child and giving her the "gift of time" by repeating the year. Throughout the year, all parent/teacher reviews were glowing as a result of their educational prowess (according to them) The only person who needs a gift of time is a cancer patient. Perhaps they should have called me in a few months earlier to discuss retarding a 5 year old? Sounds like really poor marketing for revenue. Also, the Board of Trustee Chair is angry and inappropriate in his handling of issues. He is an overly litigious lawyer who tries to belittle clients to quiet them. Bad experience. Spend your money at a school with history, pedigree and leadership.

I have been a Chatham Day School parent for eight years. I feel incredibly lucky that my three daughters have been able to attend such an extraordinary school. The students are academically challenged, emotionally nurtured, respected, and valued. You couldn't ask for a better PS-8 environment for your children. It is a very special place.

Incredible school that maintains the feeling of family. Very nurturing environment perfect for my daughter's early education and preparation for beyond. Love it!!
