Grandmaster Baird is truly a gem in the world of Martial Arts. You can really sense his life long dedication to the craft and to teaching it. I'd definitely recommend checking out the American School of Martial Arts.

I have been training here since 2001. My experience with the school has always been positive, upbeat, and interesting. It seems that every time I come to the school I learn something new, even after all these years. As far as fitness, self defense, and personal growth are concerned, you can't find a better school in the area. This is my number one school that I recommend to friends and family. It's a great place for all ages (they start kids at age 4!) and the instruction is excellent. If you are looking for a great martial arts experience, this is the place to go!

I am in my 18th year, training at American School of Martial Arts under Grandmaster Don Baird. First and foremost, I can attest, the school stands on a foundation of Integrity. Master Baird is so dedicated to maintaining a system of quality, traditional martial arts that teaches effective self-defense and sincere development of the Self. There is a feeling of tradition from the moment you enter the school, and the people American School of Martial Arts attracts are among the best I've ever met...truly dedicated individuals who train hard and have fun, and who are committed to the improvement of themselves and each other. If you are looking for a school to learn great self defense, create greater strength both inside and out, and be surrounded by the most respectful and supportive group of teachers and students, congratulations, you've found the school for you!

Traditional Kung Fu School. I have been training at the American School of Martial Arts for close to 10 years now. Never having trained martial arts in the past, I was unsure of what to look for. This school was open and inviting, with instructors and masters that cared for the students and wanted the best for them. Also knowing that Master Baird worked with the Burbank Police department as well as being a classical musician clued me in to how well rounded the school was. Not only was I learning quality self defense, but I was learning about how to live an enriching, well balanced life. I strongly recommend this school.

I was searching for a martial arts school for my son, who was 5 at the time. I think I visited all of the schools in Burbank. I sat in and watched their children’s classes before I decided on American School of Martial Arts. The first draw to the kids' class was the playfulness the instructors had while teaching Kung Fu. The love and respect the teachers give their students makes the school stand out. You can see it in the kids that they can feel that love. The kids weren't getting bored just screaming 1,2,3,4,5 while punching and kicking. The kids are engaged. I was in awe! After two years, my son is in the juniors class and my daughter, 6 months ago, started and is loving the pee wee’s class. What also needs to be mentioned is The American School of Martial Arts’ amazing Tai Chi class, which I have been taking for almost two years. The Tai Chi class is powerful, philosophical and centering- an asset for anyone looking for a low impact but powerful martial arts form. American School of Martial Arts has become a great value to my family. You should have no reservations about experiencing all that this amazing school has to offer on many different levels.
