I took classes at Pacific Wushu for three years, from fifth to eight grade. It truly helped me develop in several ways- not only physically, but has also strengthened my discipline, endurance, and focus. I learned various techniques and moves, all of which boosted my strength and flexibility, helped me maintain my physical fitness, and enabled me to learn about this art form. Master Wong and Zhang Hong Mei are very supportive and understanding teachers. They understand if you are unable to perform at your fullest ability that class- they’ll let you rest, they’ll take care of you if you’re injured, but they will also push you to try your best. They always encourage you to give it 100% of your effort. The students in the classes are friendly and no one is competitive or intimidating. There are students from a range of age groups whom you can befriend, and they will support/teach/help you as well.

Pacific Wushu is the definition of a hidden gem. Both Masters Wong and Zhang are true masters; multi-time champs with international acclaim. You are truly learning from the best. Personally, I am well past my youth I have been studying at Pacific Wushu for over two years and classes there are so much fun. I've even got my son in the kids class and he loves it. There is no ego, no ultra competitive attitude and no intimidation. Training at Pacific Wushu is, training with all your friends and the next thing you realize is that you are getting in shape and growing as a complete person. This kung fu studio is perfect for all skill levels and all ages.

My kids have been studying with Masters Phillip Wong and Zhang Hong Mei for nearly 7 years at Pacific Wu Shu. They have had a wonderful experience and have had many opportunities to perform in the community and with advanced students from their Berkeley and Stanford schools. They recently moved to West Portal, which has been great. Lots of coffee shops and things to do while you wait. They do adult classes too, but I think at this point my kids out class me.
