My buddy and I came to visit for the weekend and attended a no-gi class, a self-defense class, & open mat at R & D academy. They have an amazing facility with a ton of mat space, patient, friendly instructors, and it's a really good environment for learning. If I lived in Winston-Salem I'd be training here.

Had a great first night at this place. Not once did I feel like a stranger and everyone was friendly. Main teachers took their time and really want you to learn. Much respect to this place. Will be signing up for more classes.

I have been training at R&D for several months now and can say that their facility, staff and curriculum is by far the best in the area. The facilities are by far the nicest I've seen even in bigger city gyms attached to "celebrity" instructors. Mats are high quality with foam suspension under a plywood platform which make it easier on the body for high impact training. The instructors are highly skilled, great teachers and regularly bring in visiting professors to keep a fresh perspective. This is definitely the place to train BJJ amd/or Judo if you are in the Triad area!

I can't recommend this school enough. Scott, Ed, Colby, & Brent give you the best detail and welcoming attitude you'll find. They're changing lives for the better. Come be a part of it!

If you are looking for true Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training, Judo training or learning self defense...this is the academy for you! Great staff, friendly atmosphere and a judgement free zone for beginners and all skill levels. You will not be disappointed!
