If I could give a review without giving them any stars I would. I can't believe how rude and unhelpful the lady was at the store. While trying to find the store and later trying to find where the car was actually parked, she hung up on me both times.

I was issued 2 unsafe vehicles before finally returning and renting a vehicle from Avis. The first vehicle had the spare tire installed (and no spare). It showed a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) failure. The dome light would also not turn off. I returned the vehicle and the agent claimed the TPMS warning was due to the fact that the wheel cover was missing. I called them out on this and they offered a different vehicle. The second vehicle was a 2007 Ford Taurus. It had dents and scratches as well as rust on every side. The top of the windshield was sealed with bathroom caulk. I asked for a different vehicle and they said they didn't have any more. I took the vehicle and drove a short distance. The handling was horrible and it felt very unsafe. The roof leaked, a belt was squealing, and the interior smelled like a combination of fish guts and urine. Upon further inspection I found that the tires were bald and the right rear suspension was broken. I parked the vehicle as the weather was very poor (rain/high winds) and it would have been unsafe to drive. I returned the vehicle first thing the next morning and reported my findings/dis-satisfaction. I demanded a full refund. They said I would be contacted by the owner prior to any charges being put on my card. I later received notification from my card issuer that they had charged me 75% of the daily rate. I rented an Avis vehicle to use for the remainder of my trip. On returning to the airport I confronted the agent about the unauthorized charge. They refused to allow me to speak to the owner and refused to reverse the charge. I offered to accept the charge if they could produce maintenance records for the vehicle showing that it had been properly maintained. They could not/would not. Lesson learned - Stick with Avis - their vehicles are in great shape and are properly maintained. Budget, at least in Kodiak, Alaska, does not maintain their vehicles. When you rent a vehicle you assume it has been properly maintained and will be safe. This is not the case with Budget in Kodiak. Their license to operate and Budget franchise should be revoked for the safety of customers.
