El Fenix is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants, mainly because I love, love, love their chips and hot sauce. Go on Wednesday nights if you like enchiladas. They have an excellent special going then. I do usually eat enchiladas at El Fenix. I think they are very good. I generally eat cheese enchiladas or cheese tacos; my husband frequently has chicken enchiladas. We enjoy all of the above! Beans and rice are good and so are the sopaillas. If you do not go on Wednesday night, expect most plates to range from $9 - 14. We do not drink alcoholic beverages very often so cannot tell you from personal experience how their margaritas are. Lots of people seem to enjoy them. We usually meet my cousins there. Because we do not see one another frequently, we usually stay for an hour or two when we meet. We have never felt rushed to clear out by the waiters. (We do try to leave a bigger tip than we would if we just ate and left since we are aware that our staying longer could be costing them other tips.) I have never been when the restaurant wasn't clean and the food delivered hot.

Weekly special is cheap, but you get what you pay for. Comparable to Rosa's Tortilla Cafe. "They get you" and they make up for their cheap lunch special with the price of a drink at $2.50. Your bill comes out to fair market value lunch. You should've just gone to Chipotle. At least the food tastes better and you don't need to tip. Busy restaurant with slow register checkout.

One of our favorite tex-mex stops. Wednesday enchilada special now has two enchiladas choice of beef, chicken, or cheese, with rice and beans. Margaritas on sale all day. Very good price on the special. Chips and salsa some of the best we have encountered. Gets busy from 6 to 7 pm.

Exceptional food and service. El Fenix has always been consistently well prepared and served by a friendly staff. None better.

Food is not quality and waiters are not attentive... had to look for waiter the whole visit. Looked up one time, he was sitting across the other side of restaurant. Upon leaving had to wait 10 mins by register to pay our bill. Horrible all the way around.. don't recommend. The location downtown is wonderful
