I received no further correspondence, so I informed his "receptionist" that I'd be escalating this matter to the media if I don't receive my refund. Approximately a week later (end of July 2020) I received a "Cease & Desist Demand Letter" which essentially requested my signature in exchange for my refund. It had to be signed within 5 business, needed to be notarized, and basically had me admitting that I was engaging in criminal behaviour. I called the Law Society of Ontario. They referred me to a lawyer who replied to the demand letter on my behalf & who also instructed me to file complaint with LSO. Neither her or I have received any correspondence in return, and I've since learned that Brian C. Smith isn't even a lawyer. He's a paralegal with a suspended license!
