Selection is OK I guess, but I came looking for a very good regionally made wine & they only had 2 selections of that brand. I could have gone to chain big box store for that & gotten it cheaper. But worse to me, there were 2 people behind counter & another beside counter chatting and, even though I was wandering around, none of them asked me if I needed help. I'm disabled woman with cane & after I made my selections & was trying to carry 2 bottles of wine by myself, they all kept chatting & no one offered to help. Then when I checked out tried to give me bag with no handles. So I could drop it in parking lot when it slipped out of the 1 hand I have available? Evidently they don't want my business so I won't be going back anymore. The whole point of shopping local is not only to bring business to local owners but to get service from people who care. That's not here.

Poor wine selection and lots of trash on the floor. Whiskey and bourbon allocated items are always hidden and well above secondary. Owners are hit and miss mood wise. Competitors such as Cox's a few blocks away do liquor right. Always friendly, good selection of wine, and they have a well stocked tasting area.

Nice place but one youngish white guy was kinda strange and made me uncomfortable with his comment. I wasn't sure if he was trying to be nice or make me feel bad. But that's one out of the many employees I've interacted with and all the rest had been great. I will say, I drive to Cox, kroger and Walgreens instead of there now. Avoiding that guy at all cost.

Best Liquor Store and Service!!! The team at State were absolutely amazing! We are visiting Louisville on a family trip and they went above and beyond to ensure we found local small batch bourbon to match our preferences. Additionally, we were sharing our disappointment about not being able to locate an open distillery tour during our stay. Rebecca reached out to her contacts and took down our contact info and after less than an hour found one vacancy for our party of 6 on the prohibition tour. They take time to get to know customers and have amazing customer service. I will certainly be back to visit again on our next trip down. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

There's everything to like in a liquor store that's locally owned and operated and offers a large (and excellent) selection. It can be sort of like going to your neighborhood hardware store, but you get to share what you buy (if you're willing). Yes, State Liquors feels very welcoming.
