How delightful to be introduced to a gem of a place, so close to home. Ayr is an easy thirty minute drive from Kitchener. Willibald features a flavourful selection of beers, cocktails, wines, seltzer, vodka, and gin. Although the establishment is called a "Distillery and Brewery", the kitchen serves up gourmet-level food. The, "Willi Burger", rivaled the best burgers I've had, and I've had a few. The fries too were a cut above, a fresh cut above at that. The rest of the experienced diners in our party had very good things to say about the, fresh and locally-sourced Grilled Zucchini, Caesar salad, Roasted Red Pepper and Cheese Dip, and the "Korean BBQ" Chicken Sandwich. This countryside oasis is worth the drive.

Not only do I love the location, but the beer is so fine - enjoyed a supper smooth DIPA and a wonderful stout. This last visit was to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and the Italian dishes were most excellent. Pizza I saw being served looked to warrant another visit.

A gem of a distillery and restaurant in the KW area. We got the dill fries, Korean fried chicken sandwich and sausage and onion pizza. All were so delicious, the fries so crisp and the chicken in the burger was charred perfectly. The cocktails were also amazing, we bought more of the Hisbiscus Limeade to bring back home. Farm setting was nice, ample seating and our server was super nice!

Very much enjoyed a Sunday visit on a warm October day. Sampled Octoberfest and smoked beer. For lunch had Ceasar salad and smoked salmon. Both were good. $16 for each of them was rather pricey but you are paying for the ambiance. They also make their own beer, gin and vodka. Took some home to try. Well worth the visit.

Stopped in for lunch and was very impressed. Have loved their beer and gin for some time now, but had never come out for food. Funghi pizza was delicious. The crust was light, airy, crispy, and flaky at the same time and held its shape crust to tip, retaining the same crispiness throughout. Toppings were excellent. The use of pickled red onions and arugula chimichurri made the pizza just that much better. The creamy garlic dipping sauce was wholly unnecessary (the pizza and crust stand on their own), but was very well made and delicious. I found it overpowered the funghi pizza, so enjoyed it just with pieces of the crust. Beer, as always was exceptional, as was their signature gin mule using their barrel aged gin and homemade ginger tea - the perfect balance of ginger spiciness with modest sweetness. Atmosphere was also excellent on the patio. Service was great (thanks Brooke and co.)! 10/10, will return.
