Unfriendly, discriminatory owner. Luckily employees are this business’s saving grace. Unfortunately, owner has clearly become jaded by serving the OB area for too long. While working with a friendly employee to find a collector’s bottle of Blantons bourbon (I still needed the L and second N letters), the owner came up and said “if he refuses to buy the next bottle, do not serve him.” I tried to explain I was looking for an exact letter/horse and how I collect Blantons. To which he showed his ignorance by stating “that isn’t a thing, I’ve been selling that bottle like water for nearly 30 years,” and “it’s always been $200-300 a bottle.” He then moved on to target my wife (she is of Mexican heritage), stating “how do I not know while you are asking to see bottles of bourbon that she (gesturing towards my wife) isn’t trying to steal a bottle of alcohol or rob the store.” He belittled us, accused us of trying to rob the store, frequently stating “my employees don’t have hours to help you,” (it was less than 2 minutes) and statements about being the best liquor store, the best liquor store owner, and if his employees were nicer than him “it’s because I (he) trained them so well.” Frequented this store for years. In fact, I was there 3 nights ago buying a bottle of Blantons with the B letter. While in the store 3 nights ago, the employees asked me to come back and they would order any bottle I needed… I guess only when the owner isn’t present. Please please make the slightly longer walk to Abbott St liquor. No reason to be talked down to, have your wife accused of stealing in front of several other customers, or be belittled for trying to spend over $200 on a hobby.

The most incredible local liquor store I've seen. You should see how stacked it is.

My boyfriend and I have been here each time we’ve stayed in OB. We expected everything to be overpriced (as it’s a small store) but actually thought it seemed relatively reasonable. We enjoy looking at all of the unique products they carry and appreciate them being there since it’s very close to the hotel. The staff have always been friendly!

Convenient hours and they have tons of non-alcoholic options as well. Great for a quick drink grab on your way to sit at the beach: hard or soft :)

This place is usually great. Unfortunately, the Asian gentleman that works there has a huge attitude problem. The four stars are for the other employees that go above and beyond to create a welcoming kind atmosphere. Recently, I entered on the card processing screen that I wanted 40 cash back. The clerk who had not greeted me and was staring out into space completed the transaction, closed the register, and gave me no money. I reminded him that I had requested cash back when prompted prior to entering my pin. He opened the register and gave me 38 bucks. Usually when I get cash back I get the full amount and the service charged is tacked in but this was not the case. When i simply asked for an explanation, the clerk became dismissive and disrespectful trying to shoo me out. It took another associate to be able to simply explain what was going on and kindly apologize. As I provided some feedback on how the situation could have been better handled the Asian man started yelling at me and raising his voice, eventually yelling at me to get out. His coworker had to tell him to leave me alone and reminded him to calm down because he was intelligent to realize that the clerk was way out of line( and he recognized me and knows that I am always kind and respectful towards all employees). What a shame that everyone here does a great job except one angry, disrespectful person . Next time be nice, explain what happened, and say you appreciate the feedback, its not that difficult.
