My favorite store

The instant I got through the door I was asked if I wanted to buy a Valentines gift. Then it got worse. I grabbed some beer and when paying for it I noticed it was more than I expected. I was told that this was because they charged 3.5% card fee, which they couldn't bypass. I get that there is a charge for using cards, but most retailers don't directly charge their customers for it. You can, indeed, bypass the charge. The expectation from the staff was that I should be using cash to avoid this. I got the strong feeling that they wanted all customers to pay in cash and were using the extra charges to achieve this. I felt scammed.
