We were visiting the area and came across Holman Distillery online. Gave them a call and made an appointment (which I thought was odd). Upon arriving I understood why. Unlike most of the distilleries we have visited John was the owner, distiller, and guide/spokesperson. We were blown away at his knowledge about the alcohol industry as a whole. So nice to talk with someone who could answer and explain not only his products but others as well. I am a vodka drinker myself and thoroughly enjoyed being educated on vodka and the process of making it. As a bonus we actually found something other than wine that my wife liked. She fell in love with the "Apple John". Overall a great experience!!! Highly recommend anyone to pay John a visit! Make the appointment, you won't regret it. Cheers!

Saw the sign for Holman Distillery and looked them up and made an appointment. When we arrived it was only us. John did an amazing job explaining his business and the difference between distilling and jacking to create the different drinks. Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he makes and his products are amazing! Make yourself an appointment and go visit! Great way to spend an afternoon!

We scheduled an appointment after reading about Holman Distillery in the NYTimes. John was GREAT - friendly, informative, funny, and really down to earth. We enjoyed hearing how he got into this and how each of his products was made. It was neat to visit the only place in the country producing legitimate applejack, a really unique and cool experience. Tasted everything, asked for a couple extra samples of a couple to decide on a favorite, and in the end, we just bought it all! As did the other couple we went with!

It was a delight to visit John and his distillery. He was very quick to respond to my email for a last minute visit while we were passing through the area. We were very excited to see how he had revived a lost American tradition. He had a very covid-safe set up and we were able to sample his wears and learn all about the process. A wonderful time. We highly recommend.

Be sure to request an appointment with this distillery. It is a small business operation and the owner, John, gives you a great tasting and history of his business and how he began it. The AppleJack is really, really delishous and the Jack Rose cocktail tastes like an amazing Southern Sangria. Try the vodka too! Very good and a very high proof! Loved that vodka! It is a must visit if you like whiskey and distilled spirits! Thank you John for the tasting! And, YES! More NC ABC stores need to carry these products!
