Sol Energy gets 5 stars! I chose Sol Energy out of 5 companies that provided me with proposals. I chose Sol Energy for several reasons. Ken Olson, owner of Sol Energy, came to my home and took the measurements and inspected the proposed location of the solar panels. Ken suggested that we look at only 16 panels (versus 18 panels proposed by the other companies). He recommended this because the most eastern part of the roof would be in shadow for a portion of the morning and panels 17 and 18 would be in shadow most of the morning. Ken also proposed orienting the panels in landscape mode and moving the panels to the most western side of the roof to maximize exposure to the sun. Ken also proposed solar panels that were very efficient and made in the U.S. He also proposed a control system that maximizes the power generated by the panels. By reducing the number of panels to 16, the proposal was less than all of the other companies. The installation was handled by Ken's project manager, Ryan. The installation was performed in the time frame proposed and was well done! The electrical hookup to my breaker box was done by Ken's subcontractor, Bill Laemmel of Carbondale Light & Power. Connecting power to my breaker box was of concern due to its interior location within my home. Bill took the extra steps to make sure that the power line coming from the system to the breaker box was nearly invisible. It was well done as were the connections from the solar panels to the control system and the utility meter. I have had the system running approximately 60 days now and the system has already generated over 1.68 Mega Watts of power and I have banked hundreds of Kilo Watts with my electric utility. I am very happy with the system and working with the folks associated with Sol Energy was a real pleasure. Five Stars!

Contracted with Ken for a solar upgrade. Ken had designed our homes’s original PV solar system some 10 years prior (supplying 1/2 of electrical needs). Now I was building a workshop and wanted to be net zero as to electric. Ken’s company did an outstanding job. Clean, well-designed installation (I did have one advantage in that it was new construction). What a difference too in that 10 year period. Twice the power at 1/2 the cost (when comparing the new vs. the old install). With the rebates in the Roaring Fork Valley PV solar is a no brainer! A five year payback for the new install. I can’t see why more people don’t do it. Highly recommend Ken and Sol Energy. David Uhl Carbondale, CO
