We have been waiting 2 1/4 years post install to write this review. We felt it important to say that we've worked with the NCSN team post install, to speak with them over the phone or email with questions or concerns, before writing a NC Solar Now review.
A PV system was a long term bucket list project for us for years. We took years researching local and coastal solar companies to determine who to work with. Our south facing home was situated well for this project.
We wanted a reliable, stable solar company with a long track record of PV installs who would stand behind their work for 20+ years, used quality products, didn't cut corners at any time, and be a company with a customer oriented approach to listening to the customer's project objectives and professionally installing and being able to service our PV needs long term. We chose NC Solar Now. To us, our decision on who we chose as a PV vendor was one of the most important decisions of the project.
Our project requirements were to create a PV system with battery backup that would serve as a whole house power generation system, in case of power loss; power loss and power stability are issues where we live. We first updated our home to be as green as we could first (LED lighting conversion, new appliances, etc.) and with 2 AC units with combined 5 tons cooling capacity, we were using 50 kWh average daily consumption based on yearly usage numbers. Our home is all electric. I expressed that we wanted to achieve around 70-80% net yearly energy savings and get our ROI under 10 years, post rebate. I wanted our installer to handle all home and utility permitting and rebating processes.
As a home owner I am picky about how things look when it comes to our home, so a clean laid out install on the exterior as well as the interior was a requirement. They delivered on this. This is a new subdivision, and I was the first to get a PV system. It was my requirement that the PV panels be all black finish on the cell panel and the panel framing itself (no panel cell lines connections or stripping) against our black shingles. The panels themselves and the panel layout had to look great from the street. We had an HOA to please and I didn't want anyone to say it did not look good. NC Solar Now provided our HOA with technical information to help make the HOA decision process easier.
A technician with a drone came out on 9/25 to survey the roof to determine panel placement and roof pitch. We signed a contract 10/1 for install of 2 Tesla Powerwall's paired with 26 Solaria PowerXT®-360R-PD panels with 1 SolarEdge SE10000H-US inverter, for a rated system output of 9.36 DC kW. HOA approval came 12/21. The install was broken into two dates. NCSN installed roof panels on 02/26 on a challenging 6/12 pitched high roof. On install day, 3 install trucks arrived plus 1 equipment delivery truck, 7 installers, it was a well orchestrated team effort. I was impressed by their professionalism and manners, how well they collaborated and worked together, how well and thought out the install was done and cleanup. On 3/3, 3 more install trucks, 1 equipment delivery truck, with 5 electrician installers showed up to complete the install of the Teslas and do all the outside box placement and inside electrical interconnections. They came prepared both days with all the equipment and staff they needed to do the install. Inspections happened a few days later and I was up and running. Any date give, from contract signing to project completion that was promised, was delivered on. They were proactive in their communications.
I've included 3 completion pics to this review.
Given my experiences with the company, and the results obtained, I would still choose NC Solar Now as my PV vendor. They are good people, who care about their customers after the sale - I can't stress how important that is.
