Unbound Solar turned out to be one of the best decisions I made when I was looking for a “Self Install” Solar company. I looked at several companies before I decided to use Unbound Solar for my needs. As a highly experienced engineer and Nationally Certified Electronics Technician, I knew I had the skills necessary to build a project of this scope myself but I needed a good source that knew their products well and could help me with whatever problems came up during the install and I was under a time constraint. Unbound Solar was that Company! Even in the midst of huge wildfire problems all around them and their warehouses, Unbound Solar stepped up and got me what I needed in short order. They didn’t miss a thing, and before I knew it I had all the materials I needed to make my Solar plans a reality AND in the time frame that was required! Mine was not a “Typical” Solar Installation, I had a “whole house” automatic backup Generator, the Solar installation is on a detached garage roof many feet from my home (where the power comes into my property), and I was building a “Net Metering” Solar installation. I needed a company that could understand the technical specifics of my project and get me only what I needed within the time frame I had to work with. My Salesman at Unbound Solar was Wil Burlin, and he was able to quickly understand my project’s specific needs and communicate those to the right people on his team to help me get the job done right the first time! In short order I had all the materials I needed to build my project delivered and I was on my way to an affordable solution to my energy needs! Lastly, my wife and I are in our 60s and 70s, and if WE can do this, I know Unbound Solar can help YOU do it too! Sincerely, Chris Fullerton C.E.T.

We purchased our 5.5kW system early last summer to ensure that all the parts would arrive in the Fall when I had time to do the install. Everything arrived intact and the install was straight forward even though this was my first solar install. In Idaho, homeowners are allowed to do all their own work including the electrical. The rails, optimizers and rooftop wiring took a few hours to install and the panels were a piece of cake to put in place just before the first cold snap arrived. The rest of the wiring took a bit more time but was still easy to figure out and my electrical inspector was satisfied. The system went live at the end of November and has been operating flawlessly. Here in Boise, generation in December and January is pretty meager due to inversions and cloud cover. February and so far, this March has been a lot better and I've had a couple of 30+ kWh days and, as the sun angle improves, I'm getting as much as 5.9 kW peak output. Unbound Solar was great to work with and was responsive to needed changes on the drawings. I took the whole drawing packet in when I went to get my permit and I was in and out in an hour. Luckily, Boise is a very pro solar city and they process permits while you wait.

This year I completed my goal to add solar panels to my home. I spent the winter researching and evaluating different scenarios and decided to do the installation myself. Being 70 years old and planning to do the install completely by myself, narrowed my options. An internet search and a few YouTube videos led me to Unbound Solar. I worked with Wil Burlin at Unbound, and he produced a plan set for a 5810Wh system based on my requirements. The township and DTE, our electric provider readily approved the plan, and we were off and running. I had difficulty with the shipments in that four of the 14 solar panels were damaged during shipping. This delayed installation while awaiting replacements. The replacements came with additional damage occurring during shipping of these also. Finally with another shipment, I was able to complete the installation. The plan was easy to follow and with the help of a rented scissor lift, I was indeed able to complete the installation by myself. The system provided was complete with the exception of junction boxes required for running the cabling through the roof and only one grounding lug was provided where two were required. I found everyone at Unbound a pleasure to deal with. They were all knowledgeable, professional and very prompt with responses to every inquiry. I would definitely recommend them and consider them for any future projects!

I wish we could grant a sixth star! From first contact through the entire installation process, Unbound Solar outperformed every expectation we could've asked for. Especially noteworthy is their tech engineer, Wil Burlin, who time and time again made himself available to assist our electrician with timely advice and direction. We are an off-grid tiny home in the central coast region of California and are happily enjoying the freedom from blackouts and high bills after going this route.

This was one of the most interesting and rewarding DIY projects I've ever done. I learned a great deal and had fun. Sean Micken and Wil Burlin at Unbound Solar were great to work with. Responsive and helpful. The system is outperforming expectations. I upgraded my electrical panel capacity and installed a level two charger in the garage to charge our PHEV. Between the car, and half the house being electric heat and an electric hot water tank, plus federal tax credits and local and state incentives, I believe payback for the system will happen within five years.
