I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Jay set the record for worst install ever, my system has since been completely removed and reinstalled by a different installer. Jay did the whole job without getting any permits, despite saying that he did. Almost all anchors drilled into the roof missed the rafters, he used wrong equipment, and only installed 26 of my 28 panels. He claimed he could only fit 26, when I asked why they were not installed according to the plans he told me he had never seen the plans. He missed his scheduled appointment 2 times before finally showing up. I had to ask him multiple times where the remaining 2 panels were before he finally told me that he has put them in his truck and was going to take them. When his crew left, they took much of the remaining usable equipment (rails, spare wire, etc.) but left trash all over my garage (a large wood pallet, piles of plastic wrapping, etc.)

I hired Jay to do a job for a client. Gave Jay the owner a $2000 deposit on a $3000 job. He later collected a check from the client for 3000 and now refuses to return the additional 2000. I have since gotten 500 out of him but has taken months to get the additional 1500. I continue to get BS responses, but at this point we are filing suit and taking legal action. I would suggest to stay clear of this company. !!

I am a contractor that did work on Jay’s property and he refuses to pay. After we completed the work, he said he was very happy with everything. I send him an invoice and he has never responded. I went to his home to see what’s up and he acted like it’s no big deal. Gave me the excuse that his wife writes out checks so he can’t give me one and she wasn’t home. He told me to came back in 2 days after 3pm to pick up the check. So I drive over an hour one way and just the kids were home. Finally get a hold of him after threatening to take him to court and he tells me to come back the next day. I’m almost there the next day and he texts me to tell me he put it in the mail. 2 weeks later and no check or responses. After reading other reviews, if I were you I would stay away from this company. Jay is a very shady person and don’t trust him in any way!

Jay and his crew were very professional throughout the entire process. They kept me apprised of what was going on at all times. Whenever I had any questions or concerns, they were quick to respond. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to go solar!

I contacted Independent Solar and they answered all my questions, gave me clear and understandable quotes, and did not pressure me into making a decision toward solar. I took the plunge, and am very satisfied that I did. The installation of my 5kw system took only a day. All the paperwork, permits, and legwork were done in a professional manner. Jay has called or emailed a few times just to follow up and make sure I am still satisfied with everything. I would recommend using Independent Solar to anyone interested in going solar. My system saves me about $600 each year compared to my electric bill before I went solar.
