I wanted to share my honest, detailed review of We Go Solar. Last week I drove from Victoria up to Chemainus for some solar equipment to use in our Ford Transit van build. Why did I drive there? Well I called all the stores locally I could have bought from and all of them seemed stand off-ish and like they were unimpressed by my lack of knowledge as a new DIY builder. This is a new project for my wife and I so there is lots for us to learn. After a conversation with Drew (the owner) via both email and phone, I knew it was worth the drive. He was so helpful, appreciative, and always put in the effort to make me feel excited about my project ahead. So I drove up that Thursday morning. Upon arriving, I was slightly taken back by the building appearance, as it’s older and doesn’t match the flashy buildings I am used to in Victoria. However, after stepping foot inside, I once again knew I made the right choice. The entire staff was INCREDIBLY helpful, friendly, and willing to work with me. They took the time to understand my project, goals, and needs first. Then they helped me revise my original plan based on their experience and knowledge. They spent over 3 hours with me mapping everything out and selecting which products I would need down the road. Not once did I feel I was a nuisance, wasting their time, or uneducated. It was once of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had at a business on the island. During my time there I got to hear their story and why they choose to invest their money into their customers and products, instead of making their shop “flashy”. I also got to meet the other owner & Drew’s wife, Carolyn. She was so bright, energetic, and kind! By the time I left, I couldn’t help but feel an immense amount of satisfaction with my choice to support their business and family. I would drive up there 1000 times again and will in the future for all my other products I need. I will also mention that their pricing is beyond fair and often better than what the dealers were selling it for. If you need solar products for your home, van, RV, or any other project, I highly suggest spending a day to visit We Go Solar!

I've purchased a few full solar systems from We Go Solar over the years. One for my RV and now another for my business. Always very happy with the equipment and assistance from the team. Very knowledgable team that helps tweak and refine the system I've mapped out. Having them on the island is real treat to be able to get everything I need in one place. Thanks again guys, will be back!

From my first call to Drew I was impressed. He spent 25 minutes with me and I got the specific guidance for my individual application. Not long after I got an email with 6 attachments and an itemized quote. Lots of accurate information. I am mid Island so I decided to drive down and actually see the products and talk about specific issues with my system. I have an off grid cabin that needed a system upgrade. Even though I had already bought a new charge controller somewhere else he helped put together a package that worked with it. Drew spent well over an hour with me answering all my questions. Their prices were good and I was able to get everything in one place. I will be putting it all together soon and will try and update this post. I would definitely recommend WeGo Solar to my friends. Great company to do business with, very satisfied. Installed 5.7 kW of solar on the roof (16 panels) and everything came out on time and on budget. The cost per kW through WeGoSolar was slightly less than what a friend of mine paid for a similar installation in Ontario, so their pricing is good. To give credit where credit is due.... Jeff from Bearfoot Electric did the design and installation and he is a true craftsman. I've worked with many electricians during my career and Jeff does *very* nice work. There's no argument that the WeGoSolar building looks very rundown and the parking lot is rough. However, I'm not a fan of palatial buildings and offices as I know who's paying for it, so I'll take the better price as my savings. My only regret is not having figured out how to have sqeezed another few panels onto the system to have maxed out the capacity of the inverter module. Bruce Marshall

WISH WE NEVER PURCHASED FROM WE GO SOLAR: After spending $4500 at We Go Solar, we are sorry we spent a penny there. Great prices that's for sure but for devices that they will not provide any customer support on. Setting up the settings in your devices? No, they won't help you with that. Figuring out what to put into the devices so you don't damage your battery bank? No, they won't do that unless you buy all of your batteries from them regardless if you needed new batteries or not. I was told by their sales staff that, as a customer I was "not even trying, just trying to win..." (see below for full excerpt) when asking about settings to put into our devices. I was told by their sales staff to "reach out to the sales person directly" (see below for full excerpt) which was told to me BY THE SALESPERSON DIRECTLY. After speaking with the owner of the company, I was put off to another sales person for advice, and when I asked for the settings for the devices to be provided to setup them up to work with my system and new battery bank, I received a very lengthy email telling me about how busy they are with customers that he did not have time to provide the information I was asking for. Only X amount of time for each customer... I asked for where to plug in RJ45 cables into my Multiplus, I was sent the places to plug RJ45's into a different inverter I didn't have that was completely different, then referenced again to a manual... the list goes on and on. It's been two weeks of battling for information from this company. This is from the actual message sent to me by We Go Solar's salesperson who we bought the $4500 in devices from: "When I agreed to be your partner in your solar adventure I didn't realize that you weren't going to try at all. I thought that you were going to try as hard as I was going to try. I feel let down. I feel like you are trying to win against me rather than find solutions to the problems that you are having. Everything is a gotcha. "Its not labeled" - except in the manual." WHAT???? I ASKED FOR SETTINGS! Here's more from the same salesperson stating he simply doesn't know why things aren't working (after not providing any settings) and referencing me to contact my salesperson (which is him): "I don't know why the multiplus is reporting the wrong voltage... Feel free to ask Victron or your sales person for advice on how to get it to accurately report." When I reached out to Victron as he suggested, they told me the solar supplier is supposed to provide customer support for the products! DO NOT BUY FROM WE GO SOLAR. DO NOT REFER PEOPLE TO WE GO SOLAR. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOTHING FOR YOU AFTER THEY GIVE YOU BACK YOUR BANK CARD EXCEPT HELP YOU LOAD YOUR CAR. WE WOULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS BUT GOOGLE REVIEWS DOESN'T GO THAT LOW.
