Not a great value for the price if you are a student. It can be very busy (just as busy as the university) and the classes fill quickly. The university gym is about the same quality as Movati- the only down fall is that it can also be busy at certain times of day and that Movati does offer a better selection of classes that run frequently. The upside, two semesters at the university costs only $100. You can also do month-to-month if you aren't a student. Movati does have a student membership now, but I don't know how much it costs because I signed up before they implemented it so I still pay for a classic membership. They also will not cancel your contract for a long term injury/illness- which has been my personal negative experience with the gym. Even with a doctor's note, they would not let me out of my contract. I can transfer it, for $100 transfer fee- but I would rather not pay $100. I understand not wanting people to bail on a contract they signed, but a company should have a little more compassion for their clients who are able to provide evidence to support a legitimate reason for cancellation. Other gyms will also cancel you contract if you move far away enough to justify not being a member with them anymore. Movati will not. I inquired about this since I am looking to move as well. There are so many gyms in Guelph, explore your options.

Awesome gym! Best gym I’ve ever been too. They’ve got upbeat music on all the time and everything is always spotless. Seems like it’ll be busy with the full parking lot but the place is so big I haven’t waited for anything yet. Updated and clean machines. Staff greets you and are very welcoming. They even have a coffee/smoothie bar... really cool addition. Couldn’t ask for more.

Definitely not one for posting public reviews, especially negative ones. I really came here just to read the reviews to see if anyone felt, like me, that the management of this gym couldn't care less what the members think. Moved my membership from the local YMCA gym (which I loved) to this one only because this gym is within walking distance to my home and my work-place. Was impressed by the women-only space as well. However, after 5 years of membership here, I can agree with those who say it's getting pretty run-down with respect to some of the machines. That I can live with, esp because I don't use the women-only workout room. However, I have to say that after 19 years of regularly attending gyms here in Guelph and elsewhere in Canada and overseas, I've never seen a gym where male workmen are so constantly in the women's locker-room - not even at quiet hours, but just after the busy lunch hour when lots of women are finishing up showering and dressing to get back to work. As I say, public reviews aren't my thing, but I have complained verbally once directly to the manager/supervisor, and twice in writing, with absolutely no change. Having men in the locker-room doesn't seem to bother anyone else, but I don't enjoy showering while hearing men chatting just outside the shower-stall, or figuring out how to get completely dressed in the shower-stall in some effort to preserve my privacy. For a gym that has gone to the trouble of having a women-only workout area and pool, management couldn't care less about any concerns from members about having men in the locker-room so often; they think it's sufficient that they post a notice on the door on the day of the planned work, as a nice surprise to members who are walking in to work out over their lunch break. There are other things that could be improved at the gym but mentioning them here would be a waste of time. I see lots of responses here from the gym about 'forwarding comments to management', but judging from my experience and other's comments here, that's a waste of time too. I'm hoping that management of this gym changes so that their focus isn't only on collecting money, or that a similar gym opens nearby so that I can move. Judging from other reviews here, though, I can expect a fight to have my membership canceled when that time comes.

I'm surprised at the negative reviews on here. There is SO much more space than you would typically find in a Good Life for instance. Smoothie bar is a nice touch for after your workouts if you on on the run and need a lil' something. Staff is wonderful. Loving the lockers that have their own combination attached. There are two pools, lots of equipment (I never wait for anything), and I find everyone who works out here pretty respectful. I only have good things to say about Movati Guelph. Shout out to Joseph Whitten, my personal trainer at Movati. If you are thinking about personal training, I highly recommend asking for this guy. He's fun, knows what he's talking about, is realistic, and really encouraging. Even just having a friendly face around the gym when I am doing my own thing is nice (none of my friends go here) and makes for a better experience.

Movati in Guelph is awesome. There are so many classes available and enough equipment for every customer to find their comfort zone. I love swimming there and I'm super glad the pool is as spacious as it is.
