The BEST Sensei!! & Amazing renovated Dojo. I joined Kitchener Karate Academy 2 years ago. Since then 3 more members of our family have joined the Kitchener Karate Academy family. Sensei Phil is so passionate about teaching and mentoring students. His classes are well presented, challenging, detail oriented and fun! My confidence and physical capabilities have improved significantly in the last few months. Sensei always says “ it doesn’t get easier . You just get stronger “. I highly recommend that you check it out yourself.

Kitchener Karate Academy is the best karate business in town.. If you are looking to join some sort of martial arts and learn self defence, then this is the perfect place for you!! The community is great along with Sensei Philip Bellam. Phil is an amazing teacher, puts hard work into his teaching and techniques and always makes sure that everyone is also having fun at the same time. I have gone to a few classes and i have loved it, it’s a good workout but it’s also a very enjoyable every class. Sensei Phil is not only a great Sensei but also an amazing husband, father, and friend, he makes everyone feel welcomed and gets to know his students well but most importantly pushes them to their best ability. It’s always so welcoming and it feels like you are apart of a community even on the first day! I highly recommend joining this Karate Place, you will not regret it!

Started with my kids classes, then later me and my husband started the adult classes. Karate not only shows you how to self defence or do martial arts but also shows you the art of trust, confidence and friendship. Sensei knows how to make the class fun and intense at the same time. I have seen a huge change in my kids behaviour, becoming more responsible. I am so thankful I found this place and we became a part of the karate family.

Update Feb 7 2023 This business gets my highest recommendation. There aren't a lot of Shotokan Karate Dojos in this area, if you're looking for a place where you can have a great learning experience from a true pro and learn a fantastic martial art along with traditional discipline, then go in and try a class! Update March 1 2022 I wrote the email below a few years ago. I'm proud to say my training has improved all areas of my overall health and well-being. In addition, I went from a jolly physique to more of a James Bond one.😆 My family is now more involved with the Dojo. Watching Sensei Phil teach the kids is so impressive and entertaining. He is a great leader and role model and now a good friend. The Academy worked hard over the pandemic to give support to kids and adults in our community through physical fitness and deserve to reap the rewards of a job well done. The Dojo is growing. Kitchener Karate Academy is expanding by 3x it's original size and I'm proud to be there while it's happening. That means there's room for all the current students and a lot more without being packed in like sardines. Check the schedule on the website and come out to a class. You will be glad you did. .............. Previously Scott wrote: Met Sensei Phil today, got my new gi, pumped and ready to start Thursday what I never finished back in the 80's. If you or your kids want to learn a great discipline, in a safe clean environment, you need to check out this amazing Dojo and meet Sensei Phil!

If you are looking to start in martial arts, looking for self defense, have some experience or want to build a solid foundation and work towards and participate in professional and competitive karate, then this dojo is definitively the place for you! Sensei Philip is very inviting, supportive, engaged, communicative and provides critical feedback and exercises to all his students to become successful on all levels, while maintaining ones confidence to be able to succeed. With my kids and me participating in all the different programs with all the other members of all ages, I can only recommend to sign up and try the program yourself.
