Management is not the greatest and when it comes to concerns/complaints, they tend to steer away from it. For example, a few ladies have complained about someone leaving stool and peeing in the hot tub. All maintenance had done was scoop it out and added more chlorine. So some lady from the plus membership spoke with the Manager, Beth Morgan, and (I was shocked) because I was told that she screamed at the member for complaining and had threatened the member, "I know who you are, and if you complain again, I'll confiscate your membership from the YMCA." In these exact words from the member and the witnesses in the changeroom. If I had been there, I would have put this up on all streams of social media. I didn't believe it myself because #1) I was not at scene, #2) I didn't expect anyone from Management to handle things so poorly, #3) with the money that we pay ($80 with taxes included and it increases by $2-3 every 6 months without discretion/improvements within the facility), I'd expect a certain level of professionalism and service at this facility. I have tried contacting Head Office, but they said that they'd get to me but they never did. It's just very poorly managed here. I'd recommend you to stay away from this place. If you are seeking for a family-oriented, or bigger sized pool in general, then checkout PanAm Center next door. Prices are way better.

This is an organized and clean place. At first I used their 14-days free trial, it was so amazing then I could decide to join them as a member. its gym is equipped and you can find any equipment you want , the run track is so cool , I like it , I want to participate in their swimming classes then jump for bronze test and be a swimming coach. the staffs are so friendly and helpful , they’re so patient and answered my questions in a good way

We've been members for the past several years and can't say enough good things about the facilities, staff and volunteers. They've been very successful at creating a family atmosphere that is both welcoming and inclusive. More specifically, our two young children are enrolled in the Karate program and absolutely love it. The Sensei's go above and beyond to provide amazing technical instruction and coaching on general life skills. They enforce discipline and personal responsibility and hold their students accountable for their own actions, which is one of the things that we love most about their approach. Our children are also enrolled in other programs such as basketball and swimming and really enjoy those as well. Overall we couldn't imagine our family not being a part of the Markham YMCA community. Highly recommended!

Poor management. They don't give enough training for the volunteers who work in the building (e.g. if you are a CYF volunteer, and were at the front desk, you would not know what to do). Bulling was also a problem with volunteering here (e.g. kid calls you names and you tell the staff and they do nothing about it). Things also get stolen from inside the lockers which are not locked (they don't tell people to bring locks for the lockers), in the lost and found there are dirty towels and single socks in there. The vending machines got replaced with "healthier" snacks and drinks that are not that good and there was a coffee machine in the foyer and it got removed for no reason. I would not recommend the Markham YMCA
