I've been to a few different gyms. This LA Fitness is one of the ones I like more than most others. They've got a pool (not deep, meant for training), a hot tub, a sauna, and an excellent selection of equipment. Over other gyms (Planet Fitness, fit4less, YMCA, ETC), I'd argue this LA Fitness has the largest selection of equipment in the area, which is key for a gym. The downsides though, are limited hours during the night (Although this is done to reduce overhead, and I believe it does, leading to a nicer gym experience). The staff are overall fairly knowledgeable at what they do, and friendly generally. I'd suggest improvement on the cleanliness a tad, I wouldn't say it's a dirty gym, but going around places you can see bottles around belonging to no one, paper in the cop holders of machines, etc. I'd also suggest having some staff going around possibly offering advice to newer gym-goers. I see plenty of staff at this location, typically a few with nothing to do, sometimes on their phones. That's not a concern for me really, but you could put those people to use offering advise on proper form to the many people I see hurting themselves with incorrect form. Overall though, this is probably the best gym in the area. The other LA Fitness in Barrie doesn't compare to this one in many aspects.

You get what you pay for here. There is plenty of equipment to use but it can be very busy. If you can workout during the day, it is a much better experience. In the evenings, there are a lot of people who go to the gym and spend much of their time leaning on machines and socializing. The pool is great for swimming laps when it isn't crowded. Staff - please keep the temperature down to keep the loungers out. The squash courts are okay. If you've never played on good courts, you won't know the difference. When I played squash, a league/ladder was getting started but not very many players were getting involved. The biggest disappointment is the changing area. In the winter, the entrance is filled with wet boots and water on the floor. If you take off your boots like your supposed to, you get wet feet. If you don't your the jerk who made the floor wet inside the change room. Whether it's intentional or not, some members arrive with $50 shoes and leave with $150 shoes. Wear your old ones or put them in your locker.

I've been going to LA for a few months now. It's an average gym. I would like to see it cleaner. The equipment is definitely not sterile. There was a hair clip in a corner that has been there for over a week. On the plus side, they have a lot of equipment. The staff and trainers are really good. I've signed up for training and am happy with the outcome.

Love working out here. I enjoy the atmosphere and gym. I do need to comment on the complaints I have read about the change rooms being untidy. This is really unfair. I have seen the cleaners do an excellent job each night cleaning. What we need to question/comment on are the lazy attitudes/behaviours of those using the change rooms. Really ladies, how hard is it to throw out you paper towels or tampon wrappers(in the shower no less)? Show some respect for the space we use. Kodos to the staff for trying.

I came in here for a tour as I was interested in becoming a member. The guy who gave the tour was nice however, was very unknowledgable in the facility. He did not know hours of operation, or fees for personal training or membership prices. We were then directed to a representative by the name of Jordan. He was very disinterested in communicating with my boyfriend and I, constantly asked what time we like to work out at which I had answered the question 3 times with the same answer only for him to then question why I would want to work out at night in a negative way after it was explained my boyfriend and I work shift work. The last straw was the constant attitude and short answers I would receive for my to finally just get up from his desk and leave. I really wanted to become a member at this gym as the amenities are nice. However; based on the representation of the staff alone, I will not be switching to this gym.
