We were at the self defense class tonight. The class was incredibly powerful. Karen was fantastic. We didn't just learn "moves". We also talked about mindset which I found unexpected and perhaps even more informative. I highly recommend this class and look forward to talking the next one.

Our family has had experience with other martial arts places in Clarington, and we have found CMA to be the most established and professional. Karen has extensive experience in martial arts and sports in the area and brings that wealth of knowledge to CMA. Her students always seem happy and engaged. It's a great family place at a great location.

My son attended Martial Arts classes here for several months and enjoyed his time. We felt like the staff there was welcoming and knowledgeable, but lacked in other areas. One of the biggest problems we had was that the classes were far too large and unorganized. Students of every belt (from lowest to the highest) were in the same class and were being taught by one (sometimes two) instructors, who were not even full black belts. My son could not get one-on-one instruction that he needed when he was struggling with specific things, he often needed to wait until it was taught to the whole class. For a while, I was interested in learning martial arts with my son, but found there were no adult classes. I dont see how they can have pre-teens and adults in the same classes and expect them to be taught properly. A few times I wanted to inquire about the classes I should attend so I was not clumped in with the younger students, but the owner was never around. She always had other commitments. The final problem arose when my son wasn't advancing in his classes. He attended regularly (as regularly as our schedule allowed) and knew his stuff well, but after 3 months, he received only 1 "stripe," which after they get 6, they get their next belt. Id love to recommend Clarington Martial Arts but as it currently stands, I find that hard. I heard raving reviews about it in the past from friends and co-workers, but it has changed since then.
