Played the Challenge par 70 course on a beautiful Tuesday late afternoon in May of 2018. Easy to get to and not too far from the 404. Pleasant staff in the clubhouse. And the price is hard to beat too. I really enjoy the forgiving nature of the golf holes here - not too long and fairly wide and open. Still get to cross water on four holes which adds enough of a challenge for beginners. The signs have been improved this year and the ball washers are better anchored into the ground. Tall grass has been shortened which reduces ball search time. Played at a good pace without having to wait at holes to hit. The greens though need to be better watered, while conversely the hard sand traps need to be drained of pooled water. There was no refreshment cart in sight today. Having played the Classic and Bethesda Grange too, I find that the Challenge strikes the right balance of price and fun for me making me a repeat customer. Update May 2019: A later start to golf season this year and the courses are still soggy. Played Classic which while shorter has smaller and more difficult greens. Friendly welcome by the young lady with red hair in the pro shop.
