Growing up in the area, I've played every local course and this was always my least favorite. I hadn't played it in years and recently gave it another shot, my feelings have NOT changed. Blind shots are kind of the theme on this course, it has the potential for some gorgeous views but the layout kills it. Ie: Lowering the front tees on #4 would make for one of the most beautiful holes in the valley and could be the courses signature hole for all the right reasons. There's literally a 9 foot tall flag pole on the par 3 6th so you can tell where the green is from the tee. The course and the clubhouse haven't changed at all over the years, it looks like exactly zero money has been invested in anything outside of cutting grass. The fairways are inconsistent, wet and soft on one spot while 10 feet away they are dry and hard as a rock. I'm not even sure there is any drainage on this course. Greens were recently aerated unfortunately, so ball bounced all over when putting but an educated guess would see them normally playing on the slow side. It had rained the night before and the bunkers had not been tended to, I'm guessing the only guy working just hadn't got to it yet. Must have been a members night there the night prior as well, because there were beer/cooler bottles on the ground all around the garbage cans less than 50 meters from the clubhouse entrance. If you are just a weekend golfer and want to get out and whack some balls, drink some beers, and have some laughs with buddies then this is potentially the course for you. If you are a more serious golfer looking for a good outing on a decent course, keep driving and take a big pass on this one. **After writing this review it came to my knowledge that the owners of this course apparently own the Pembroke Golf Course, if so I have a good feeling I know where they are investing their money.

Always enjoy playing Island Brae. Course in wonderful condition. Not a difficult layout, but fun and interesting. Still a challenge for my limited golfing abilities.

An older course, 9 holes, not the best maintained, but still a fun morning/afternoon for a cheap round of golf. Staff are friendly and you can pop into Pembroke for lunch. Rentals available at the Pro Shop.

A little on the expensive side, but nice course.
