DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our family has been customers of George MacDonald Insurance for 20+ years. Because of this, we opened our policy with them too. The insurance company changed their automatic billing and said they attempted to contact us. They had the wrong information on file for our contact information, which was strange as they were insuring our house (this was confirmed by the credit bureau). We received a call 3 months later from a collections company for a $400.00 bill, and one week later for another $200.00, which was almost triple what we paid on a monthly basis. The woman we dealt with was irate and noticeably uncertain as to what was going on with our insurance plan. She kept making excuses for the company, but could not back them up. In the end, they are making us pay $600.00 for a policy year that we are not being covered for, as we had cancelled 3 months prior. When asked about this, the response was, “Yes- you cancelled, but you did not formally cancel.” We are still uncertain as to what this specifically meant, as this was never clarified. I asked several times why when speaking to them on the phone (when I cancelled) they did not mention a balance, or what the procedure to “formally” cancel was, and they did not give me an actual response. The main responses we heard to our questions were, “let’s agree to disagree,” “yes, you’re right we had the wrong contact information,” and “no I do not have a note on your account that we spoke, but I remember it.” Very unprofessional. A disorganized insurance company with a profound lack of comunication.

Horrible experience. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! George MacDonald Insurance had the wrong information on file for us, and instead of calling or emailing me to let me know we had missed a payment, they sent us straight to collections. we had already cancelled our insurance with them, and no outstanding Bill was mentioned. Apparently sometime after and while speaking with us on the phone still, they did not let us know we had missed a payment, even though they had been automatically billing us since day 1. One day we recieved a 400$ Bill from collections to pay immediately, and after paying and trying to figure this out we get hit with a phone call to pay ANOTHER 200$ right away. After having no Bill sent to us, no email and apparently something in the mail, and no real effort or care, we are stuck with this almost $600 bill, part of which is to renew for the year we had cancelled already . My family has been with this company for more than 20 years, and we get treated like this. Don't use them unless you want a confusing policy, and people that use loop holes to get out of it being their problem.

My husband and I had been a long time customer (over 20 years) and had a couple of incidents, though they were a bit of a hassle to deal with we got our major payments in the end, minor stuff was not covered even though they said it would be. I've seen my rates skyrocket over the years and so when my husband got the opportunity to get a quote through work from another company we jumped at the chance. The company offered a savings of over $200. We tired to contact Statefarm about this and see if they could adjust our rates, but should have known there was a problem when we had difficulty getting in touch with them. After finally getting a hold of them they refused to even try and get us a better rate. So services were canceled. After cancellation I received a bill for nearly $400, I was told this is supposed to be for my last payment on one of the cars and a fee for breaking the Policy, but at no point did anyone actually send me a proper bill for this. When I asked for a statement I received paper work that gave no clarity on the issue and was told to call the 1-800 number and to work with head office in resolving this issue. I called the provided 1-800 number and was told they aren't given the information I was looking for that my agent should provide me with those details.
