I wish I had an option for negative 1000000 star rating. Here goes the story if you have money they love you and customer service their least priority wasting peoples time and lying over the phone is their expertise. No wonder they are where they are. Please do yourself a favour and consider any other bank than this.

It was a wonderful hospitality and great experience at HSBC Waterloo branch specifically by Branch manager Patrick Keyser. He is gem of a person, very polite, highly knowledgeable and special focus customer first . Highly recommend you to meet him if you walk into branch.

Don't waste your time at this branch if you want to get a mortgage. The branch manager Patrick is polite but they cannot deliver any sort of customer service at all, and it seems that they are full of apologies. They are slow to return emails/calls if they do it at all. The agent I was assigned didn't speak English that well. Overall it's been painful experience in what is supposed to be a simple process. Just updating me on my mortgage progress through email would have gone a long way, but I am completely in the dark. As stressful as the housing market is, you shouldn't feel the extra stress of not knowing how your mortgage application is going. I would recommend a broker that is focused on you and inspires confidence, rather than this branch.

Just wasted an hour of my time by going to their branch on for my appointment, which was confirmed before my arrival. However, there was nobody to meet me there, and I just waited in the lobby after informing the teller that I am here. Before leaving I asked the teller and she told me she informed the person with whom I have the appointment, but he still kept me waiting. It was already difficult to get that appointment because I had to explain twice that I know the qualifications requirement and that I qualify, and to add insult to injury those people with whom I talked were just gate keepers that didn't know anything about the investment products and couldn't answer anything about why I should be an HSBC client. They felt like they don't want my business, or that they felt that they are entitled because they offer something nobody else offers. I have heard from several people that they are not good at customer service, and some of those people were premier in other countries but still didn't want to open an account with HSBC Canada because of that. I had to see for myself to believe, and this is complete right. I have never been treated so dismissively by any establishment before.

tried to open a premier bank account (no credit application) with a lady that does not understand or speak english, misunderstood our conversation and twisted it into a completely different thing, if you do try and open an account at this branch please do not ask any questions because they will be twisted and turned into something completely different..... if you have any questions about their banking call the 1800 number instead. I would expect the would be "HSBC Premier Relationship Manager" to be at least fluent in English and understand that people ask questions....
