Staff generally won’t bother talking to you and the facility is always packed. Don’t go during the semester at mid-day because it is p a c k e d. Other than that, I made some good gains here!

I have been a student at Carleton, and a gym go-er, for the past 4 years. I have never had a problem with any of the staff here as they have always been extremely friendly. Unfortunately, today myself and a friend had a very poor experience at the Welcome Centre. I would just like to remind the staff at Carleton Athletics that the students here are adults, and they should be treated as such. It is also important to be consistent with rules. I say this because I used my friends' student card today as my card was not on my person at the time. It is something that I have done countless times before with staff being aware of it and not blinking an eye. When the woman at the front desk noticed, I immediately owned up to it and her response was inappropriately aggressive. My friend was brought into the manager's office and told off. We now have a notice on our campus cards which I believe to be unfair. We are not elementary students and these employees have no right to use their power in such intimidating manners. We pay for our gym membership as a part of our tuitions. The actions taken were, in my opinion, excessive. Although they may be part of policy and regulations, if you are going to be strict about these things then at least be consistent.

Fitness center is a big joke. It's not even good for students. But they are trapped so they can't do much. Dirty washroom/shower area. Over crowded. Average wait time for equipment 10-15 minutes. Be prepared to be bothered by 20 dudes for equipment while you are working on it. Open shower gives feeling that you are in jail. Staff is mostly middle eastern international students who are egoistic and threatens patrons. If you complain staff being rude you will be labeled trouble maker and staff will call security on you. Difficult to cancel membership, they will first leach out the money they want and then let you go. Most of the good reviews are from the staff or their friends/family

Nice gym, well set up. Friendly staff.

I don't understand the negative reviews, the staff is super friendly, equipment is fairly new and well maintained. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it gets REALLY over crowded if you go at peak times (anytime after 4 PM) but if you workout in the morning, its fine.
