Magnum Roofing

My homeowner's insurance engaged Magnum Roofing Contractor to furnish an insurance estimate. In my experience with this company, the standard procedure involves sending a contractor to conduct an assessment. During the visit, the contractor arrived at my residence while I was outdoors, equipped with a ladder and an iPad. I observed him ascending to the roof for inspection, after which he requested access to the backyard. Despite my attempts to accommodate, I encountered difficulty opening the gate due to adverse weather conditions causing a piece of wood to freeze against the ground. I duly explained this impediment to the contractor. Subsequently, the contractor revisited the roof with his iPad. Minutes later, upon his return, I inquired if he had encountered any issues accessing all areas of the roof. He affirmed that there were no hindrances. However, to my surprise, I received an email from the insurance company stating that the contractor had reported my denial of access to the roof, rendering him unable to provide an estimate. I found this discrepancy to be both dishonest and unprofessional, undermining the reliability of the contractor. Despite subsequent attempts by my insurance company to engage Magnum for an estimate, they have repeatedly failed to follow through, offering only empty assurances. In stark contrast, three other reputable roofing companies promptly provided accurate estimates without any excuses. Personally, I am deeply dissatisfied with Magnum's conduct and would not consider engaging their services. However, since the decision to hire them lies with the insurance company, I am left frustrated by the inefficiency and lack of professionalism displayed. I would strongly advise against considering Magnum Roofing Contractor for any roofing needs based on my experience.

Our large bungalow in Dunrobin was in dire need of new shingles. We contacted Magnum Roofing along with several other respected roofing firms in the Ottawa area for a detailed quote. Steve got right back to us and did a detailed estimate based upon actual measurements up on the roof (as opposed to others who use Google satellite views to do their estimates). Magnum was nowhere near the most expensive quote nor were they the cheapest either (but not by much). Steve was happy to answer all my questions about shingles, pricing, options, availability, etc. We elected to use the GAF Roofing system choosing the Timberline HD (Pewter Grey) shingles. One of the subtle deciding factors for us to use Magnum was their advertised dedication to assisting Christie Lake Kids Camp, a charity very close to our hearts. “Magnum Roofing supports Christie Lake Kids in the form of both financial donations and by providing roofing work to their facilities at no charge.” Nice to see a firm giving back to the community. A couple of the crew arrived the evening before the job was to start to place the dump trailer in position and begin to get setup. In this way the early 7:00am start would not involve noisy trucks, etc potentially bothering us or neighbors. The crew of 7 showed up at exactly 7:00am and got right to it. Our roof was completed in just over 1 ½ days (183 bundles so a large job by any measure) just as Steve had predicted. Not a single complaint was heard of the heat, the bugs, the heavy bundles of shingles or any other condition the crew faced. There was no excessive use of profanities, loud radios, etc so common in these industries. All of the crew parked on the street so as not to block our driveway for us. In short a very courteous bunch of talented guys. Upon completion the entire crew meticulously walked the perimeter scouring the ground for any nails, bits of shingle, plastic or other debris. Our evestroughs were all cleaned out, the shingle courses were dead straight, the vents were all installed correctly and drip edge was installed. The entire GAF system of waterproof membrane, deck protection, starter shingles, ridge caps, etc was used and installed per GAF specification. Would I recommend Magnum Roofing to a friend? You bet I would. They absolutely scored a 10 out of 10 in every aspect of the job (and I’m a pretty picky guy). Every one of the crew knew their role and operated as a coordinated, well oiled machine. We had onsite visits both days by lead job foreman Dave to ensure all was well and that expectations were being met. Admittedly having a roof shingled isn’t the most glamorous way to spend your hard earned money but it is certainly a great sense of security to know it’s been done right and should be trouble free for many years to come. What a difference! Call Magnum.

after 16 months of waiting I received 60% of my pay for a roof over my head.. I was forgotten to threaten and harass the company long before having a meeting in my opinion they are thieves or simply dishonest

We had our roof done seven years ago. I have been so impressed with the follow up service they provide. On three separate occasions we have had damage to a few shingles, and on each occasion they come and do the repairs within a day or so of my call. Highly recommend.

This is the second time we’ve used Magnum Roofing. We had storm damage and he was of course our first choice again. He sent Dave over to do an emergency repair after the company that the insurance sent out messed up and didn’t even repair it properly. As a matter of fact Steve didn’t even charge me for the emergency repair. You can imagine how busy they were with roofs that were already booked more so after the storm. Yet he still sent over Dave to fix it so no more leaking would occur. He scheduled us in as an emergency roof replacement and showed up on time and had the most polite team of guys. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steve in the future and have already given his name out to several people. His prices are excellent and his service and quality of work are outstanding. Hands down one of the easiest referrals to give would be Magnum Roofing. Unbeatable in my opinion!!
