A very nice place to take a break. Fantastic mountain views. The interpretive centre run by Parks Canada is worth a visit too. Get your shots of the abandoned lodge before they tear it down.

So much fun!! Ask for the Kid's Explorer book and have a blast playing with an interactive animal track sand pit and stamps. Check out common (stuffed) animals found in the pass, as well as a working telegraph set up, a video about animal safety, a large model of the Pass, and more. The kid's ultimate favorite though? Four drawers full of various rubber models of animal poop. What more could any kid ask for? Lol

On Thursday July 27 2017 the ranger shut the door in my face and said we are closing up, although it was still 6:55pm. I asked, "Oh closing a little early today?" He replied in a nasty tune, "It's not early, we close at 7." I wouldn't have kept him late (I run a retail store so I know what it's like working with last minute people), I just wanted a map and maybe to buy a hat. I sure hope this guy was a volunteer, I would hate to think he's drawing a paycheck, especially a taxpayer funded one. He must have had somewhere to go because it is 7:03 as I type and he's in his car. Shameful.

On our way to Golden, we stopped here to have a leg stretch. Beautiful area, so scenic with all the surrounding mountains. Road works on the Hwy, slowing the traffic down, but why would you want to rush through here and miss it all. We are glad we stopped.

Beautiful area any time of the year, but the men directing traffic for the avalanche crews are the quite honestly the rudest and most ignorant workers I have ever dealt with in North America. Too lazy to get out of their pickup trucks and direct traffic properly, like the women working here do. The guys prefer to sit in their pickup and at night they do it with their high beams pointed at you so that you can't see the road, never mind buddy waving his light stick INSIDE the pickup. Then instead of speaking CLEARLY to be understood, they mumble from inside their pickup truck and will then proceed to start hurling insults when you can't make out what they're saying...again, because they're mumbling... Wonderfully professional lads, no doubt about it...🙄
