Let me tell you a story... I was gifted a balloon flight as a thank-you... I graciously accepted, even though I am not the biggest fan of heights! I white-knuckle the steering wheel crossing big bridges :)
Flight day comes, I'm on the launch field, talking with friends (who are also pilots and know this unknown to me pilot), and I am assured that Martin is going to give me an awesome flight... GREAT, this eases my nerves!
We get into the basket (I know this is the incorrect term), and I promise you, it was not a graceful event. Three women on the flight, and we crawl in. Still, it was better than trying to climb into it!
We lift off and I discover that my pilot, loves heights! So much so, that we're going to go up to 5000' GREAT... this ride will be my last, I am going to die of a panic attack in the fetal position on the floor of this basket!!!
Who'd have thought that we'd reach 5100' and instead of fear (there was a little, I'm not going to lie), there was peace?! The exhilaration of hitting that height, the majesty of everything you could see, and the confidence of Martin (he answered a lot of questions)!
It was an exceptional flight from the graceful entrance into the basket, to the graceful exit, also crawling out of it... I would fly with Martin and Montréal Montgolfière a thousand times over!
Thanks for the memories!
