Great School! A real world approach to self defense that really teaches you how to defend yourself. I have trained here for about 2 years, and having done other martial arts in the past, noticed a huge difference in the effectiveness and approach of style and instruction. If you want to learn how to truly defend yourself, gain confidence, meet great people and get in shape then I would highly recommend Hiscoe Jiu-Jitsu.

Sensei Hiscoe teaches very effective and practical self defense techniques. Focus is placed on self protection as opposed to MMA or competitive style training. I have been training here for several years and enjoy the atmosphere of the dojo. Great for everyone from beginners to experienced martial arts students.

My 6 year old has been going to Sensei's HEET class for 2 semesters now and LOVES it! The classes not only teach self defense and how to avoid/escape from grabbing hands but the classes are also age appropriate skills. The younger class (Ready, Set, Kai!) teaches coordination skills with the older class (HEET) teaches 5 to 7 year olds how to identify and act with strangers by not getting themselves in situations where they can be grabbed by the stranger. And what to do if they do get grabbed ("THIS IS NOT MY PARENT!!!!"). My boy has so much fun learning the techniques taught! Keep up the great work! My wife is also in the non-impact class on Mondays and is learning how to get away from grabs and holds without having to be thrown around. She is learning situational awareness and how to avoid bad spots. Stuff everyone needs to learn in this day and age! And again, this is taught at the individual level. You don't have to be perfect or special in sports! Just willing to learn! And have fun while you're at it!

I have been training the last 3 years with Sensei Hiscoe at Hiscoe Jiu Jitsu. I have found his approach to teaching self defense either with the kids or adults invaluable. Training in other dojo's I have never experienced as much confidence and strenght that I feel training at Hiscoe Jiu Jitsu. Great people to train with, and Excellent Instructors!
