I was looking for a martial arts school for my daughter. She was 6 at the time I enrolled her and I was looking for a school that would be good with kids and help boost her self confidence. Great Lakes Tae Kwon Do surpassed every expectation I had. All of the instructors are very nurturing with the kids and make the class fun as well as providing quality instruction and building up their self confidence. The instructors are great role models for the kids as well. My daughter has been a student for over 3 years and loves going. In addition, the school provides self defense classes free of charge to immediate family members and holds several family friendly events for the students throughout the year like movie nights, Tae Kwon Do summer camp and tournaments. Finally, Great Lakes Tae Kwon Do has all the proper credentials of a first rate martial arts school. They are members of the International Tae Kwon Do Federation and have the highest credibility in their certification both nationally and internationally. I can't say enough good things about this school. If you are looking for a top quality school for your kids this is it.

This is the best taekwondo school in NW Ohio. If anyone is looking for a real martial artist to teach them than Mrs Carol VanZile fits the bill. She has a bachelors degree in Education and has been studying taekwondo for over 20 years and is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt. She is wonderful with children including special needs children and also enjoys teaching adults. The classes are run well and each and every student receives the same amount of attention so they can learn what they need to know to test for the next level (gup). She also holds specialized seminars throughout the year including a wonderful woman's self defense course that is like no other course I have taken. She not only teaches the self defense moves, but some of the psychological information to avoid becoming a victim all together. I highly recommend that all women should take this course so they have the knowledge so they don't become victims.

My son, Nicalos, started at GLG Tae Kwon Do a couple of years ago & we couldn't be happier with our choice. Mrs. Van Zile puts her heart & soul into her students. Her teaching degree & many years of experience mentoring students is evident from the very first class. All the instructors motivate, encourage & inspire each student to excel and believe in themselves and their abilities. A strong emphasis is put on developing self confidence, discipline & learning how to make good choices as well as patiently teaching the physical skills of Tae Kwon Do & the art of competition. GLG Tae Kwon Do class times are conducive to working single mom's as the classes are offered every day at varying times after work hours. Mrs. Van Zile's dedication to and passion for teaching her students guides each student to succeed and achieve their goals. My son, Nicalos, has matured and developed skills for life during his classes at GLG Tae Kwon Do where every child and family is welcomed. Thank you Mrs. Van Zile & all instructors for your kindness, patience & passion for teaching. Nicalos Weirich/ Amy

I trained with the owner/head instructor Mrs. Carol Van Zile from beginner to Black Belt. When she started her own school I decided to go back to studying TaeKwon Do with her. Great Lakes Global TaeKwon Do, under Mrs. Van Zile, is a wonderful place to learn about this powerful martial art. Her degrees in Education are put to great use, and students of all ages, from 5 to 50 plus, learn the proper techniques and etiquette of TaeKwon Do. If you wish to compete Internationally, this is the place to be. If you wish to learn and maybe compete a little bit, this is the place. If all you want to do is learn a bit, get in shape, and have fun, this is STILL the place. Stop in, visit a while, and see what TaeKwon Do is all about.
