What a nightmare it was to deal with remediclean. I had two vents in my house that were wrapped in asbestos tape and needed to be removed. I found remediclean's website and fell for the propaganda. When you are dealing with hazardous material removal in your house, you need to be able to trust who you hire. I tried to do my due diligence in researching the company but I was gravely mistaken; my horrible experience speaks for itself.
Remediclean claims they "HEPA vacuum and wet wipe all areas" as well as "isolate the working area". Unfortunately, in our case, they did neither competently. We weren't able to be home while the procedure took place, but they called us and patted themselves on the back at how well they cleaned up once they were finished. But when we got home, we were horrified to see the state in which they left our house. Not only was there demolition mess left in multiple areas (both drywall and lath and plaster piles), they also left obvious streaks where they "wiped" the floor. Two of the debris piles weren't even in the rooms they were working in! So much for "isolating the work area"! Little did we know, this was only the beginning. We were nervous, because we figured there could have been some asbestos left in the house, since they clearly didn't take care to clean the obvious mess they made.
We also found chips taken out of nearby baseboards (6 feet from the walls worked on) and the drywall cracked through behind the wall they were working on. I realize this is a messy job and demolitions are hardly ever careful, but just something to keep in mind: they clearly do not take care to ensure surrounding areas are left undamaged.
Furthermore, there appeared to be leftover asbestos tape left on one of the tin strips our vents were attached to! When we contacted remediclean to have them come back and finish the job and properly clean up, they downplayed our concerns and told us the tape was "probably drywall tape" and the mess was simply "dust from our vents that we hadn't cleaned".
Not true! The debris was clearly drywall, lath and plaster and (possibly) asbestos, not regular dust, as you can see in the pictures. And if that tape was drywall tape, how was I supposed to know? All I saw was the hole in my wall where my asbestos-tape-wrapped vents once sat, and some tin strip with some tape residue left behind. After seeing the incompetence in which they left our house, I was not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt!
Since we had to wait for them to come back and finish the job, we had to bump back our vent replacement, which meant we had no heat to the top of our house in December for 4 extra days. Thanks, remediclean!
When we contacted the company, they downplayed their mess up, and told us we should be happy that they generously didn't charge us for the second trip (to finish cleaning and removing the suspicious material they left). Oh, wow, what service! NEVER AGAIN. They also said they would "talk to their employees" and make sure they know what is expected. Thanks for letting us be your guinea pigs, at full price, might I add. Horrible customer service and extremely unprofessional staffing.
Also, shoutout to their "third party" quality inspector (Sherlock environmental) who was hired on behalf of remediclean to do air testing only while the procedure was occurring (unlike the industry standard of before/during/after) who signed off on the shotty work remediclean did. Rubber stamp contracting at it's "finest"!
Stay away, for the sake of your own sanity. After this, we have heard through the grapevine that this sort of behaviour is not unheard of from remediclean. Just wish I had heard those reviews before I hired them.. I wouldn't have!
