I went to Hazpro to get advice about some old moderate-risk chrysotile-containing flooring tiles, that had delaminated from the floor, and which someone in the house had unfortunately attempted to clean up without taking any special precautions. Curtis at Hazpro patiently answered my questions, explained the situation and what we needed to do, offered to dispose of the contaminated material to keep it out of the garbage stream, and set my mind at ease. His advice was very practical, responsible, and safety-conscious. Curtis was very helpful and highly professional, and I would strongly recommend Hazpro for asbestos issues!

Hazpro quoted me and outrageous price but when told of the competing bids was immediately able to lower theirs by $2000. It was like they were pulling numbers out of thin air. They said they'd be done in 4 or 5 days but ended up coming and going over 2 weeks. These environmental companies charge as much as journeymen professionals on the strength of a weekend seminar. Their much vaunted vacuum truck seemed mostly for show. In the end, it boiled down to 2 kids with shovels over about 6 or 7 days of work. At a generous salary that's 3000 in labour, disposal costs on that and then $4000 in pure profit. I don't see myself as a cheapskate, I've never written a review but I am now. I have trouble with profiteering. Addendum: Since writing this review I have had two telephone conversations as well as a couple of email exchanges with the principals in the company. They deserve full marks for reputation management. That said, I felt as though those contacts were efforts, even vague inducements to alter my review. I found that a bit troubling. The whole remediation business has an air of opportunism to it. Homeowners or sellers are often over a barrel and companies tend to take a "whatever the market will bear" approach to pricing. That is the gist of my concern. Though they seem professional and conscientious, fairness is the issue. In their recent rebuttal they report that the price was altered because the scope of work was not as great as initially assessed. Since they made that reduction without further assessment, I find that, at best, ingenuous. I have nothing to gain by posting this review. Judge for yourselves; should the cost of two fellows working a week or so with shovels and plastic bags clearing out an attic be roughly equivalent in cost to two red seal journeyman rewiring an entire house over a similar period of time? For my part, I think not. If you need remediation for asbestos or vermiculite, certainly consider this company - others have been very happy with the service. Nonetheless, get multiple quotes and negotiate vigorously.

We have enjoyed working with Hazpro over the past several years and have always found Curtis and his whole team to be responsive, professional and fantastic in working with our clients. When we found out that they are now offering Ozone treatments, we arranged to have them apply the treatment to one of the homes that we were selling as there had been some feedback related to stale odour. Days later, the treatment has proven to be effective and there is no longer a need for air fresheners. We were amazed at the difference and the feedback from our sellers is that the home just smells "clean" Aside from their expertise in remediation, We'd also recommend their new Ozone service as a great option if you are dealing with stale or hard to purge odours in your home or listing.
