Purposely got expelled from Ridley's in the early 80's. It was the only way I could get out. No one believed the racist tension I was experiencing there. No, I am not just feeling sorry for myself and certainly not exaggerating. I was one of the 3 Indian kids on campus, and headmaster Cosgrove seem to enjoy keeping the pressure on. The memory still stings after 30 years. I hope all the current abandoned rich kids have a better experience.

Too many Chinese people, they take up 85% of the school. It’s to expensive too! You pay 80k Canadian for tuition but you have to pay for school trip and even traposrarion and equipment for your sports.

Established in 1879 Ridley College is steeped in History. A sprawling campus with programmes to suit children of all ages. Lower school is a separate building onto itself, starting from junior kindergarten to grade 8. The upper school carries on the same tradition from grade 9 to PG. Ridley offers the International Baccalaureate program. A newly refinished hockey rink was truly amazing.

Lower School is a bit of a grift. The school boasts about tuition included activities such as competitive sport programmes, elevated academic experience but frankly, none of these services are for JK-G4. When pressed on creating value for lower school students, nobody seems to care enough to provide that value. Activities are paid for by parents, there are no competitive sporting programmes, art, or anything of value that surpasses Public School for kids under 10 years of age. 30% of Ridley Students are given bursaries of some kind. With 350 borders, 660 students; it's literally only the JK-4 that are not being given financial support, yet being offered the lowest quality of services at Ridley. Facilities are pay-to-use for Ridley Families, resulting in families paying for competitive activities outside of Ridley, despite the website claim that ALL RIDLEY STUDENTS are given these opportunities. The average Ridley family pays more than $20,000 for sports outside of Ridley if they want any competitive sporting, music or arts under the age of 10. In grade 5, the "competitive sport programmes" are run by full-time teachers at Ridley and not professional level coaching staffs. Ridley recruits talent externally and boasts about players being recruited by good schools. Almost all of these students were not fundamentally developed at Ridley. With such beautiful facilities and massive funding, you'd think they'd be interested in parents input and support. In fact, the parent assessment was handed out recently, and only to Upper School parents, which furthered their neglect of lower school families.

I cannot say enough about Ridley College. My son started in grade 4 ( currently grade 6) and the changes I see in him as a student, athlete and leader are amazing. As a teacher myself, I can say that the school truly goes above and beyond in every way. They not only focus on academics but help students develop essential skills for life through goal planning, positive education and accountability. Sending my son to Ridley was one of the best decisions I’ve made as a parent thus far. The teachers are helpful, kind and always available for myself or my son. He comes home happy and encouraged each day!!
