We had a wonderful experience at St Laurent Academy. First of all bullying is not tolerated. 0 tolerance. My children loved the school and woke up eager to attend. I find the leadership fair but firm and they encourage children and parents to talk to them. They have an open door policy. We had to call a few times over the years and we found that leadership takes the time to listen before they interject and always respond promptly. As far as the education? If test scores are an indicator then the education received is top notch and very competitive. My favourite part is that our children were exposed to many growth opportunities from athletics to nature education in the forest, to ski trips and much more. All done in a safe and well managed environment. St Laurent Academy helped my children succeed while providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Nothing but good things to say about SLA. The Principal (Gr 6-8) is a firm, fair and caring person, who is always willing to speak with parents about issues, and takes action to address them. The teachers make real effort to adapt their teaching to the needs of each child, even ones with special needs (small classes help). His teacher always responds promptly to messages, with thoughtful, helpful ideas. They teach the kids how to study for exams (something public schools do not), but reduce stress by not having the grades count (in Gr. 6). And the frequent field trips and outings add fun and adventure to the class learning. We have found all the staff to be very responsive and understanding. I highly recommend it.

My sons have attended St Laurent for three years. It’s not only a great school but a fantastic community. The teachers and administrators genuinely care about the students. My kids love the PE program and have made lots of friends.

*Full disclosure- my husband works at this school. This review is in my capacity as a St-Laurent parent only. While some may view this as a conflict of interest, rest assured that I’m fiercely critical of where we choose to send our children to learn and grow.* My children have been attending St-Laurent Academy since they started in the infant daycare rooms. They are now close to finishing SK and pre-school. They absolutely love it there. The numerous field trip opportunities are a particular highlight for them. My son is *very energetic*, and I was a bit worried about how he’d manage after pre-school. The smaller class sizes, engaging curriculum, and staff support have clearly been effective because he is thriving, and very proud of the work he’s doing. The daycare has ramped up the French programming recently and my daughter has learned so much. Whenever I have voiced concerns throughout the years at the school, I have been met with understanding, accountability and clear solutions. Being a smaller school, I’ve also really enjoyed the sense of community and inclusivity it fosters. You’re able to get to know the other parents/families and know who your kids are going to school with. The family events (Back to School Social, Movie Matinee, Bowling, etc.) that the school holds only further this community experience. Thank you for everything!

I am so grateful for the exceptional care and education provided by St. Laurent Academy, particularly in the day care program, where my daughter, Beatrice, is enrolled in the Preschool Room. From the first moment I dropped Beatrice off, in the Infant Room, it was evident that the school fosters an atmosphere of warmth, compassion and genuine care. Beatrice's enthusiasm for going to school is evident; she is so excited each day and looks forward to seeing her friends and teachers. Beatrice was my 'covid baby', born in the chaos of the pandemic in 2020, and dropping her off at day care for the first time was such an overwhelming experience because she had grown up in such isolation. I was so anxious, unsure how she would ever adjust, after such a strange start to life. But to my total surprise, she thrived in ways I could have never predicted. Beatrice has absolutely blossomed socially, emotionally and academically. And most importantly, she is happy! I love hearing about her adventures each day; and she had made some really beautiful and special friendships. I would definitely recommend St. Laurent Academy to any parent looking for a nuturing, stimulating, and supportive environment for their child. The dedication of the staff, the quality of the program, but most importantly the genuine care for my child, make it a wonderful choice. A special thanks to Gisèle Umurungi and the entire Day Care Team for taking such great care of Beatrice and making her feel so loved.
