I went to chatters for a hair trim before getting box braids in June 2023. I was told they have a curly hair specialist which was perfect considering I have 3b hair. I got my hair cut by the curly hair specialist in 2019 and was very happy with the result, however this time I was very disappointed. The "specialist" cut my hair very short and unevenly. When I went in for my braids the next week I discovered how unevenly my hair was cut, causing it to stick out of my braids. I do not doubt the stylists ability to cut curly hair but she certainly did not know how to cut BLACK hair. Not only was the haircut sub-par, the price was significantly higher for curly hair than straight hair. If I could rate this 0 stars I would, I am extremely disappointed with the "accommodation" compared to my prior visit. I will not be returning or recommending Chatters to any of my friends.

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO WENDY AND THE STAFF AT CHATTERS IN MASONVILLE!!! Wendy literally saved my hair and made me the absolute happiest customer! I got a bad perm that fried my hair (not at Chatters) - the tiniest rods were used and instead of ending up with spiral curls, my hair turned into a very big frizzy mess (see before pic). When they realized they didn’t have the product they needed to perm my hair back to straight, instead of telling me they couldn’t do it or to come back another day, Wendy actually left the salon in the mall and drove her car across town to a CosmoProf to buy the solutions needed to get rid of my perm! That alone is above and beyond amazing customer service! I don’t know many salons that would do that. The process requires putting the solution in and brushing the hair straight for 20 minutes. I don’t know how she did it, but Wendy was able to effortlessly comb through my very tangled hair without any issues or ouches from me! The whole process took about two hours, including the shampoo, perm reversal, few more shampoos, trim, blow dry and style and to everyone’s shock and amazement, my hair went back to normal. Everyone in the salon was happy and cheering because no one could believe the difference in my hair. They charged me a more than fair price of $113 plus tax for the perm reversal and they did not even charge me for the products they had to go and buy! I will definitely be back to Chatters and back to see Wendy! I highly recommend this salon. BONUS: my hair was always a bit unruly and kinky – since the perm reversal back to straight, my hair actually looks better than it did before! I now have beach wavy beautiful hair straight from the shower! I’m beyond thrilled. Thank you Wendy and Chatters!!! 😊

Just terrible. 4 hours later and I do not have the colour I asked for on my hair. Had to go to another salon to fix. The hair cut was terrible. Uneven layers and she even missed a complete section. I would never recommend this salon. The final bill was atrocious and i had to go to another salon to make it right!!

Service was exemplary! I’ve never been happier with my hair, and I feel confident that I can properly care for and style my curly hair now thanks to all of the wonderful teaching my stylist, Tara did. She even gave me a handout summarizing everything she taught me so that I could refer back to it later. I know that may seem like only a small part of the whole experience, but as someone who has memory issues, it’s highly appreciated. There was no pressure to buy any hair products, which was also greatly appreciated. I ended up purchasing some anyways, but it’s nice when you don’t feel forced into buying their products. Lovely salon, great location, 10/10 would recommend. Especially for my curly haired ladies… see Tara, thank me later! ☺️

Buyer beware!!! I came here a few months ago for a colour. My hair was already short (between my chin and shoulders) and blonde, and I just needed a balayage root touch up. She filled in some darker strands in the process and it was perfect. She told me she would write the recipe of what she did down for next time. Go to checkout and it was just shy of $200. Expensive for short hair, with no cut, but whatever. It was excellent. So I go back like 2 months later for another root touch up. Same girl wasnt available, but I told them the recipe was in my file and I was really happy with it, so let's repeat with someone else. However this time I wanted a trim as well as my hair was touching my shoulders now. So I get in the chair and she asks me if I wanted to review the cost, I said to her, "well I just want to repeat the same formula, so I think I'm good." Evidently that was my bad. I was in there for TWICE the time as the other stylist had me in. At one point she left to go work on someone else entirely. When she did the cut, she cut it so it was still touching my shoulders and doing that weird flip, and the bangs i requestd she made super thin. I looked like a frealing hillbilly from the south. I had to direct her on trimming, removing thickness, and bulking up the bangs. Eventually it looked close to what I had asked for, which wasn't even difficult. I had to thin it out more and bulk up the bangs more at home though (thankfully I've previously studied cosmetology.) Then I go to check out, and it's TWICE the price. All she added was the cut, but apparently that really jacks up the cost. Then she said it was more because she's a "master stylist." How is it that a master stylist cant even do a basic straight trim?! I later got a better look at the back, and HUGE chunks are missing colour as well. Definitely won't be returning. I strongly recommend you ask about pricing beforehand.
