I want to say great clips is fantastic because I love how fast and easy it is. I love that they record my preferences. But I always walk away with some quirky miss after a trim. Will keep trying.

Hit or miss on getting the right haircut, even though they record your preferences. I guess 3 on top 2 on the sides means something different to each barber. Still, they will do in a pinch and there is usually no wait.

Great Clips is a pretty good spot. Maryanne cut my hair for $16 and did a nice job. I'm not too familiar with hair-cutting jargon, but she helped me figure out exactly what I wanted (and how to say it).

A few days before having surgery on one of my ears, I went into the Great Clips on Shattuck Ave in Berkeley asking for “the sides be cut very short and the rest just needs to look proportionally good.” A Middle Eastern man cut my hair and did a good job. Afterwards I received the typical compliments from my friends and coworkers. But what surprised me was when 2 strangers at separate stages of my check in process sincerely said how good my hair looked. Great job!

Honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever gotten. Not only did they cut over 7 inches than what I wanted but they had the nerve to call me a liar right after they messed up. It wasn't until I showed them a photo of what I looked like before the haircut that they refunded my money back. My hair was to my pelic bones and it ended up above my breasts. I only wanted a trim of no more than 3 inches to remove dead ends and somehow 11 inches were cut off. I've never been so upset with a haircut before. The asian man who cut my hair had no idea what he was doing and he didn't even appologize after the mistake. He just proceded to argue with me that "Cutting layers into hair makes your hair shorter."?? That's why they are called layers!! You aren't making the longest section of hair shorter, you are just adding depth!! I have hair since you know, I was born, and I've had layers all my life. Not once ever has adding layers made the overall length of my hair shorter, yes it makes it shorter on those segments but the legth you want doesn't change with layers! I made it 100% clear I only wanted 3 inches and even showed him with the comb. Yet 11 inches came off as he attempted to trim my layers. To add insult to injury the other employee had the audacity to be rude and aggressive with me. Calling me a liar and saying I just wanted a free haircut. I then had to show him a photo of me (three days just before the haircut) before he gave me a refund. How dare you not only insult your customers but be so petty for 16 dollars?! My hair is ruined and they couldn't even offer an appology?! This will honestly take me over a year and a half to grow back!! I've never been so disrespected over 16 dollars let alone any amount of money. They almost brought me to tears!! I should have known better than to expect a simple trim from a place as cheap as great clips but I've been going to one for years just before I moved here. Now I'm staying away from all Great Clips forever. Rudest, most unprofessional experience of my life. And they ruined my hair. Horrible, horrible people.
