TLDR: She took too long on a bad job on my nails and I won't come back.
Okay let me start by saying I seldom review things, and I seldom want to make a big deal out of things because I know how customers can be like, I know customer service is hard, I worked it, my friends and family have, etc. And, I really, really, wanted to like this place because I live just down the street from it. That being said...
I wanted to find a place nearby that does my nails, and I walked past it once and it had a pretty decent deal on Tuesday and Wednesday for mani pedis ($40). I got there at about 5:40 with my friend and firstly, the receptionist couldn't communicate with me because I don't speak Spanish. Luckily, my friend did and she told him we were walking in to get our nails done. We wanted to know if the deal included no-chip nails because we were travelling and wanted to look hella fly for our time out, and he asked the SINGLE nail tech, and she said yes. So we sat down to wait because she was with a customer. And we waited. And waited. And waited. (This should have been a red flag for me).
At about 6:20 she comes around (mind you, the place closes at 7pm) and she starts on my friend's toes. And I'm waiting. And waiting. And waiting. 7:15 rolls around, she finally gets to my toes. She did give us something to drink which was nice. 8PM she starts on my friend's hands. 8:42PM I text a friend saying she's starting on me. We get out of there, no joke, at 9:43PM. It took her...4 hours....to do 2 sets of hands and 2 sets of feet.
Her technique was very inconsistent. She did not use cuticle oil on my toes or fingers, but she did a little on my friend. She did not put on a top coat for my friend, but did for me. She did not put on this spray to dry my nails, but did for my friend. She did 1 base coat, 3 thick coats of the color, and 1 top coat, and because it was so thick she messed up a nail and had to do it over. Oh, and we did not get the no-chip treatment. I will say, though, that she did accent my ring finger as I asked.
I was very upset when I left, and I really did not want to leave her a tip because I wasted 4 hours of my time for nails. I only ever go to nail salons because I like my cuticle to look extremely even and polished when I get color on them, and it looks like I did the job myself. This was only 3 days ago, and the color (white) now looks like a yellow, my index finger didn't dry by the next day and it got smudged, my toe also got smudged, the cuticle is extremely ragged and dry, and my nails are chipping. The thing is, I wanted them done for a special event 4 days after I painted them, so now I'm left to go do them myself.
The two images I've attached show my nails at the salon, and right before I posted this (three days later). I've also added a screenshot of the timing. The nail tech was the sweetest woman, she was so funny, great to talk to, I really enjoyed her company, and I really wanted to become a regular for her, but this completely turned me off. I'm sorry to say I won't be coming back to this salon to get my nails done.
