You may have to book a little while in advance to get an appointment with Melina, but TRUST ME, she is worth the wait! She is a true artist, and one of the most compassionate souls that I’ve ever allowed to touch my crown. If you’re someone like me who hates getting your hair cut, or has had bad experiences, or just has never felt seen as more than a person in a chair, Melina will change your life. She is kind, she is spunky, she is hilarious, she is fun, she is a great and attentive listener, but above all else, she is an AMAZING hair stylist, with all textures, all densities, all curl types. Whether you’re in the 3b-ish area like me, 2b, or 4c (or ANYWHERE in between) she will work her magic on your curls. She treats the experience as fully collaborative—listening to your wants and needs, helping you on your journey to take the best care of your hair, and making sure she delivers, all while making you feel loved and seen and special. It is a VERY personalized experience when you sit in her chair. I worked at the front desk at Curls & Company for a few months, and seeing Melina transform her clients’ hair AND their confidence levels and moods from start to finish was honestly like nothing else I’ve seen before. It always made me smile and gave me a boost for the day to see women walk out feeling (and looking!) SO beautiful, and on top of the world with a completely changed point of view. It’s more than “cutting or coloring hair,” she’s genuinely working to change people’s lives and help them feel 100% confident and comfortable in their skin. Melina is the real deal. Best stylist I’ve ever worked with and will most likely ever work with again. Thank you for all that you do.

Brought my curly cue son here! Great place in an amazing space, an old theater! Master stylist gave my son tips on how to care for his hair. His curls never looked so good!

I’m not exactly sure why my haircut was referred to as a curly cut because she cut it like normal. They got me in last minute because we just moved here and I wish I would’ve waited. I washed and styled my hair like you’re supposed to for a dry curly cut. She kept running her hands through my curls separating them as she cut. There was way too much length taken off and no style whatsoever. Afterwards she wanted to wash my hair again, which I’ve never had before after a curly cut. So I mentioned that I already washed and deep conditioned my hair and didn’t want to wash again. So she insisted styling it with this crusty mouse, I left looking terrible. Not only that but it was a different product than I specifically put in the notes to only use Innersense, per the receptionist’s instructions. Not once did she ask how I style it or what I use. She didn’t ask much questions at all actually, we mostly just chitchatted, which I usually don’t care for in a haircut because it never turns out right but I know so much about their personal life now. Very frustrating that I spent $150 for a regular haircut and it’s literally right before my wedding. I wish I would’ve listened to the reviews because not everyone knows how to cut different types of curly hair.

Do not assume because this is a curly hair salon that all stylists know ALL types of curly hair. This salon is not for type four curls. I went to curls and company with the anticipation of being serviced by knowledgeable hairstylists with knowledge of curly hair of all types & textures. I have high porosity 4a/4b hair and I can honestly say the person who styled my hair had very little knowledge of African-American hair. This person repeatedly said something was "wrong" with my hair because of how quickly it absorbed water, cut an excessive amount of hair off (way more than I asked) and did NOT know how to style it. My hair looked terrible after the cut and style. There was not even a style my hair was a giant puff ball. My curls had no definition at all, they were not moisturized at all, and my hair was a frizzy ball. The cut itself was average at best (front is way longer than the back) and I am disappointed with myself for trusting this salon just because it's a "curly" salon. I am disappointed in this salon for claiming to be a curly hair salon with stylists with no knowledge of type four hair. I mean they were a nice person, but they did a terrible job.Such a waste of money and my hair is botched Type four hair beware!

Another great haircut at Curls & Company! This time with Olivia. She spent a lot of time really getting to understand what I was looking for in a haircut and was meticulous about making sure that the end result was exactly how I wanted it. If you have curly hair and want a haircut from stylists who really understand how to cut curly hair, this is where you should go.
