In 2017, Dr Erin Brown and I met in VGH ten minutes before surgery. Miffed, and irritated because when looking at my chart (minutes before surgery), he noted that it was a break from weeks previous (scaphoid bone). Well what do you expect me to do with this? He barked at me. Not much of a bedside manner. I explained that I thought it was just a sprain and that when I returned to Vancouver, I went to Emergency because of the pain. I attempted to book with the Hand Clinic but more than one week of waiting was required. The woman on the phone recommended that I go to Emergency. I did. The compassionate doctor in Emergency applied a cast- 8 hours later and secured a surgery date for me ). Dr. Brown was visibly annoyed that I had not followed "protocol" that is make an appointment with the Hand Clinic first, wait until one is available (more than a week). Protocol entailed after the Hand Clinic more waiting was necessary for a surgery date. No such thing as an emergency. More like government bureaucracy not health care. I cannot say that my experience with Dr. Erin Brown was positive, nor professional, medically speaking.
