Nice place. The ladies do a great job. No complaints

I really hate to be writing this review because I have been a lot time customer of Maria's and was very close to them as I had been going to the salon for years now. For a while, everything was normal. I would go in, they'd wash my hair and it'd curl up like normal, I'd get my little $50-$60 blow out, and be on my way. Then, around some time back in August, after they got done washing my hair, I would sit in the mirror and notice that my hair wasn't curling up no where near how it used to be. But some curls were still there and I figured it was heat damage which I had dealt with before so I didn't pay much attention to it. Then one night when I was washing my hair in the shower, I was pulling out CLUMPS of my hair. I started to cry. I got a consultation from a natural hair salon and they informed me that they most likely put some type of treatment (THAT I DID NOT CONSENT TO) in my hair along with an acid rinse so it'd be easier to get my hair straight. When coming to Dominican salons to get a blowout, you have to remember that that is their #1 goal. To get your hair straight. Meaning they will put whatever they need to that makes it easier for THEM to deal with coarse hair. I feel so BETRAYED and ANGERED because I had been growing my natural hair for 20 YEARS!!!!!! Never had a perm, texturizer, relaxer, nothing. And it all went down the drain in a matter of weeks. I am very angry and upset at Maria and her sisters as I thought they respected me enough, as a long time customer, to at least ASK if I wanted that chemical mess in my hair which I obviously would have said no. Now I've moved onto a natural hair salon and I'm going for the big chop to fix the mess they made. Please ladies, do not be like me and PAY ATTENTION and ASK about what these women are putting in your hair. Question everything. So many salons are so untrustworthy these days and I'd hate for anyone elses beautiful hair to get messed up as mine did. I've attached some pictures so you all can see how they ruined my hair. Maria, if you do end up reading this and know who I am, just know that I feel deeply betrayed and you all know I was the most loyal customer. Every other Friday I would in your salon. Please do not put these things in your customers hair without asking them. I will no longer be visiting your salon.

I've been to this salon a few times. Maria is very nice but the problem I have is that she's the only one that speaks English. When I am getting my hair done I need to be able to communicate with my stylist without a translator. It's a little frustrating. I don't like my hair to be overblown or over flat ironed and I let Maria know that. She told the stylist that was doing my hair but she kept doing too much and when I asked to stop she got an attitude and starting talking fast in Spanish. I don't like that. I have the right to not want my hair iron flat ironed or blown out to death. NO attitude needed. Heck, that's less work you have to do so what's the huffing and puffing for?

I had a great experience at this salon. I went on a Wed during lunch and was seen right away. I am only in town for a few weeks and was a little afraid to go to a salon here. Price was right for everything thing I received. One lady washed my hair and another did the rest. I am natural and have heard or read of horror stories with salons putting perm/chemicals in with shampoo treatment. Also be aware that they charge by length and thickness. Adios

Talking with Maria was wonderful and her staff are very friendly, very knowledgeable of ethnic hair needs (they just speak very little english) - nonetheless, they were still highly attentive to my daughter, in her first experience with a dominican blowout. It turned out absolutely amazing ... "Hair was light, silky and just Gone with the Wind Fabulous" .... Natural Hair... No Relaxers, No Problems. Enjoyed seeing my daughters results so much, that I walked-in a few days later and got myself a coloring, blowout, and my ends trimmed for my own hair ... Which turned out beautifully as well. Love their work ... No need to speak of a specific stylist in there by name because they are all just highly professional in their craft, in my time watching and observing and becoming a full client ... Maria and her ladies are a dynamic team.
