I have very curly hair and haircuts were always a stressful experience for me until finding Corrina years ago. I was probably going to Corrina for several years and even made it a point to see her when I was home for visits after moving away. I felt like she understood my hair and always gave me advice based on what she knew I would truly like-even if it went against my flighty ideas to cut my hair short or get a bob. I really appreciated feeling like she knew me and had my best interest in mind. Over the course of the last year I tried a couple other salons just to try something different. Those experiences were always okay and I never went back. It had been 6 months since getting my hair cut (which was long for me) so I was really excited for this most recent cut and spent a lot of time finding a curly hair specialist with great reviews. I eventually settled on a salon in Pittsburgh. My stylist was recommended to me, had excellent reviews, and was the owner of the salon- so you can imagine my expectations were high. Long story short-it was the worst cut of my life. She totally butchered my hair and I was so upset for having such high expectations. I tried to suck it up and make myself like it but every time I looked in the mirror I was just upset all over again. Days later I made an appointment with Corrina because I knew I could trust her to help me fix this mess. Due to other circumstances she wasn't able to come in on the day of my appointment so I very nervously rescheduled with Emily. Emily sat with me and listened as I ranted about my horrible previous experience-which I appreciated. She told me what her plan was and as she began cutting she kept noting the horrible mistakes the last stylist had made. Emily spent a whole hour on my hair. I have never had such a thorough and thoughtful cut. She explained what the last stylist had done wrong and what she was doing to correct it. I asked that she not dry it at the end because I always air dry my hair and wanted to see what it would truly look like after walking around the mall. I could tell even when it was still wet that it was laying MUCH better. My anxiety had definitely lessened but I was still nervous to see what it looked like once dry. My intentions with this second cut was sheer damage control but after walking around and letting it dry I realized I actually liked this new cut. There was one part of my hair that I wanted more taken from and I felt comfortable enough to go back and ask Emily to take a look at it. I made sure she knew I was happy and honestly just wanted her opinion on if we should take more or not. She explained to me she wasn't sure how it was going to dry the first time she cut it and didn't want to take too much but after seeing it dry agreed she could take a bit more. Emily also recommended me the protein spray which I actually bought. I have never bought product from a salon before but she wasn't pushy and explained to me the benefits of it. The product is also paraben and sulfate free which was also why I purchased it. Like I said, I had always been super nervous about hair cuts (other than with Corrina) but during my cut with Emily I actually recall closing my eyes for a bit because I felt that relaxed and comfortable. I can't express enough how grateful I am for these ladies. Even the rest of the staff was so kind throughout my whole experience. Thank you!

I showed the hairstylist, i think her name was Johnna M., a picture of the hairstyle I wanted (hair color and cut) and definitely did not get that. And in the middle of while she was working on my hair she was complaining on how much hair I had because it was taking a long time. Clients don’t like hearing that! After all that, it didn’t look anywhere near the picture. Realistically speaking, I get it won’t look exactly like the picture, but at least look similar. Quoting the hairstylist, I guess we weren’t on the same page(and she said it with an attitude and seemed mad about it), because I was still confused on what she was talking about. Coming from someone who never really colors her hair, I don’t know what the difference between toner and color and balayage and ombré, and highlights and all over color or multiple color or whatever, so I just showed her the picture and just said that’s what i want and put it in her hands. And she said that my roots are a good base already, so I’m thinking she just won’t touch my roots and go from there with the color. But no..I ended up with just blonde highlights. She actually got mad when I asked about the coloring, if she was still going to put coloring in it. Because like I said we weren’t on the same page. She had like a mean dog look on her face while she was doing my hair after that. It got a little awkward in the chair for a bit. Plus, she yanked my hair a bit too. After a few minutes of agonizing awkward silence, I guess, the water cooled because she started making small talk. It kinda felt fake though. I felt bad that my fiancé spent a lot of money on it even though it wasn’t what I truly wanted and that’s what he wanted for me. It was a Christmas present. He was actually mad about it when i got home and wanted to complain. But oh well, what’s done is done. I might shoot an email though. My hair looks alright and I thanked her, but it just didn’t look anywhere near the picture I showed her and wasn’t what I wanted. And she could have been a little nicer on my confusion. I just probably won’t go back there and would not recommend that place.

I had an appt. with Kaitlin and she was awesome. Would recommend her to anybody for anything you need. She colored and cut my hair. It looks great. Beautiful shop. Jim was at the desk and he was hilarious. What an experience! My friend Julie wet to Katherine. She cut her hair. She was awesome too. Go there and give them a try! You will love them!
