Sad/Disappointed/Shocked..
I went into Loyal with a very bad colour job that a ‘professional’ had done. They met with me to have a consultation before the appointment and I appreciated how thorough they were and immediately felt I could trust them. Lindsay quoted $150/hr and insisted that she have 5 hours(or more?!?) to do a colour correction on my hair. I really couldn’t afford even the 5 hours and 4 was even a stretch to my budget but sadly the other hairdresser had left my hair in such a mess that it was either I shave my head or pay the price. The day of the appointment I informed Lindsay that I could not afford to pay for 5 hours and asked that she do her best in 4, her tone immediately changed and she got upset and snippy with me and told me that she likely wouldn’t be able to fix my hair without the full 5 hours.. A couple of times during my appointment she seemed to have issues and consulted other hairdressers regarding colour mixing etc as they had apparently run out of the ones she had planned to use. I started worrying that the final outcome wouldn’t be what I was looking for. All said, after 4 hours my hair looked pretty and I left the salon feeling good. Sadly, within 4 days, after the first time I washed it, it was apparent that something wasn’t right. My hair was brassy and it had a greenish tinge to it. Several times over between friends and clients, I had it confirmed that my hair was progressively getting worse and it no longer looked good. I didn’t want to complain about it as I honestly just want to forget any of this happened, but I’ve lost way too much sleep over it and I have found this all to be very anxiety inducing and one of the most awful experiences.. I paid $630 for an experienced colour technician to ‘correct’ my hair and and within days it looked like it needed another correction. I finally worked up the nerve to call Loyal and let them know what had occurred and that I truly was not happy with my hair. I went back in for a consultation and among many things was told that because I did not buy a conditioner that was recommended the first time I was in(NO ONE RECOMMENDED A SINGLE PRODUCT TO ME) and that because I have warm undertones now due to the first colour mess up that my options were to constantly tone my hair and invest in better shampoo/conditioner or get another colour service. That because I did not purchase product from them she couldn’t guarantee my colour once I left the salon.
I suppose I was expecting too much.. I guess maybe somewhere in all of this I thought they would try to fix it and make it right instead of charging me $630 for a ‘colour correction’ that honestly corrected little and has left me feeling ugly, sad and very disappointed AND in need of further colour services. I have no words for the how this makes me feel. We live in a small town and when you mess up you should handle things differently. I left Loyal Hair Therapy bawling and feeling like my trust was abused again 😔
