Outstanding surgeon, immensely talented, and an unwavering commitment to perfection, this is my experience as a patient operated by Dr. Eshima I had a lower face and a neck lift, August of 2018, by Dr. Issa Eshima. I am a medical doctor, a specialist and a former faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Eshima was recommended to me by my former colleagues at UCSF. Dr. Eshima was indeed, Chief of Plastic Surgery at UCSF. His colleagues described him to me as an exceptionally talented surgeon and the very best in facial plastic surgery. I was told his patients travel to San Francisco from all United States and from around the world. When I met Dr. Eshima, it became quickly clear to me that I was going to have my surgery with him. As a physician, I could immediately understand why I was referred to him. His vast knowledge and experience in facial plastic surgery was impressive. His former patients results were the best plastic surgeries I had ever seen. This was true across different age group, male or female, patients with different anatomy and different ethnic backgrounds. The results were outstanding. Magaly , the practice manager to Dr. Eshima’s practice, is exceptional. She reviews in details, all the aspects of preparation for surgery and the post-op routine that one needs to expect. As a physician I was really impressed to see how detailed and thorough the recommendations of the team were, in terms of medicine, diet, physical activity before and after surgery. The safety aspects of the surgery were impeccable: Dr Eshima operates only at the Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, in a state of the art operating room, with a team of skilled anesthesiologists who work with him at all time. The immediate post operative time: I stayed over night in a private room at the Saint Francis Hospital with a private nurse specialized in the post operative care of facial surgery. After discharge from the hospital, Dr Eshima and his team Magaly and Cathy are in contact with you on a daily basis, to go over every detail of your recovery, 7 days a week, for 3-4 weeks, as long as you have questions or concerns. Now, lets’ talk about the results of my surgery and the art of Dr. Eshima. It is a little over 3 months after my surgery and I look just amazing! I have this youthful face, this graceful look with beautiful lines. Another patient described DR. Eshima as “the Michelangelo of plastic surgery”. I concur 100%. I never looked so good even at 25. There is no visible scares. I simply savor the daily compliments. I owe this new happiness to the mastery and expertise of Dr. Eshima. He has given me a new life with my heart smiling in my chest. I am delighted once again to be on pictures and on selfies. Finally let me finish with my outmost respect for Magaly and Cathy in the medical office. I'm male in my mid-fifty's living a healthy lifestyle so my mind, body and soul feels young but the bags under my eyes made me look tired/aged - so I made the game changing decision to have blepharoplasty. Wow I wish I would have done this 10 years ago instead of making excuses like I can't take time off from work. I was able to work from home for a week with minimal pain and minor bruising (I didn't even take pain meds). The results are perfectly natural - I still look masculine but more refined. I'm a high-maintenance patient and Dr. Eshima and his team Cathy and Magali provided 5 star service from consult, surgery to aftercare always following-up with calls. In the age of digital access, it was a bit disconcerting to be putting my faith in a doctor without the opportunity to browse around a website. The intellectual side of my brain tells me that ALL doctors control their own content so a website, to some degree, offers very little objective content. But still... those thoughts tugged at the back of my brain. They tugged with a bit more ferocity as recovery crept slowly along in my guest room propped up on a pillow sending daily photos to my best friend, hoping to see progress. Having said that, I cannot thank Dr. Eshima enough for restoring my face! And I cannot thank Magali and Cathy enough for their tremendous support and encouragement. I am 53 and have taken good care of my skin. Dr. Eshima performed a facelift, neck lift, upper eye lift, lip lift and chemical peel on my lower face. I interviewed 3 surgeons in the bay area including Palo Alto but Dr. Eshima's personality fit mine the best; low key, confidant and humorous. One of my greatest concerns was looking pulled and unnatural. (Also the biggest concern of my husband who did not want me to have this procedure.) The surgery was easy (for me) and the recovery was better than expected. I don't want to cloud my review with technical boring data, so instead I will make it anecdotal; I travel often and over the years have noticed that NO ONE offers to help me anymore with putting my suitcase into the overhead bin. My sister calls it being invisible after 50. So on my first solo flight without my husband a few months post-op an attractive gentleman about my age offered to help me put my luggage in the overhead. I thanked him and declined his offer but I smiled to myself and immediately texted my sister. I would do it again in a heartbeat and I would only consider Dr. Eshima. There is a reason my dermatologist told me he's the best...because he's the best. I stayed in the Hotel Driscol for three days post-op with a private nurse (who was amazing!) but, if I had to do it again, I would stay in one of the larger hotels that Magali recommends that offers better food selection and private entry and more room to mill about. I'm very athletic so I can get a workout in in my bathroom if I had to, but a larger space would have felt better. St. Francis Memorial treated me wonderfully and I felt better about the procedure knowing that I was in a real hospital. I believe Dr. Eshima is on the board. Dr. Eshima is phenomenal. I was lucky enough to have Dr. Eshima highly recommended to me by another professional - and one of the top people in that field - a man who has cut my hair for several years. After meeting with Dr. Eshima (and consulting with several other surgeons at Dr. Eshima's suggestion) I knew I would be fully confident and comfortable under Dr. Eshima's care. The results - lower facelift, upper and lower eyes, and lip shortening - are nothing short of amazing!!! I would do it all again in a heartbeat!! I often work in the public eye, and what are the chances that at 64, younger men would take you aside, as has happened on several occasions, and say "you look absolutely stunning... I don't know, just beautiful" ... Where you formerly an actress?" I was always considered pretty, but never stunning!!! I feel one of the best things is that I still look like myself, and I feel more beautiful inside. Other people have said Dr. Eshima is expensive, and I would agree - however, it was well worth it! There aren't many surgeons who only do faces, as is the case with Dr. Eshima. It is difficult to say in just a few words what an unbelievable job Dr. Eshima did for me. Many subtleties I still find after 4 months, and I am absolutely thrilled!!
