We were referred to Dr, Monsul by our dermatologist for treatment of a very delicate eyelid issue. His office staff, from India at the front desk to our nurse, Sarah, is absolutely wonderful - they are smart and helpful, compassionate and caring. Dr. Monsul expertly performed the surgery. He has a very kind, empathetic bedside manner, answered all of our questions and explained each part of the procedure until we completely understood it. I would highly recommend this surgeon - he is brilliant.

A friend referred me to Dr. Monsul for pain I was having in my eye. Dr. Mosul and staff were very efficient and we're even able to get me an appointment the same week I called. I am happy to say my eye is doing great!

I am sure Dr. Monsul is a qualified surgeon as my complaint is not about his compentency, It is about informing others so they can make a choice when searching the internet for a doctor. I made an appointment several months ago for a new patient skin check. I had a history of pre-cancer on my cheek which was removed and stitched by surgeon in NYC, the scar is basically invisible. After my first visit with Dr. Monsul which I paid for at the time of visit due to my deductible not being met. I was appointed a return visit to address a few dry spots. Usually taken care of with a nitrous spray. At my return I was shocked to find out that I was scheduled for 3 surgeries. upwards of $6000. I opted for 1 spot that seemed to bother me the most. During that visit I was told to return in a few weeks and a small additional treatment would be needed. I was familiar with the procedure so that was fine. When I returned for the post op and was expecting the final treatment, I asked the desk gal the price because I pay out of pocket. She was unable to give me a price. I asked for a range and she said she didn't know. The doctor came in and said i didn't need the additional treatment and I asked why? He said because he doesn't work for free and if I wanted service I should go to McDonalds. This is no joke. This is why I felt compelled to write because I see it as very unprofessional. I do expect service from my doctors. Doctors are providers of service. I also prefer honest communication, an estimate of cost involved, and completed treatment. This is why the 1 star.

We were referred to this Dr. Monsul as an alternative after finding the first recommended Dr. Raska didn't accept our insurance. We were disappointed, to say the least and shocked at how unprofessional Dr. Monsul and his staff had revealed themselves to be. My husband was just supposed to have only his vision checked after the surgeons released him from the hospital. While in follow up for vision with this "doctor" it had been turned into a play by play graphic descriptive with such detail on how my husband's face was needing to be dismantled and reconfiguered via surgery in a such a way as to find my husband passed out in his chair. To date no medical reason given for this suddenly medically necessary surgery. I was concerned about my husband's well being when he hadn't returned from his appointment only to find he was in the parking lot of the doctor's office still queasy and unable to drive. I was upset that they hadn't called me or anyone else for that matter to come pick him up to insure he would make it home safely. I wanted to speak to the staff but they had already all left the office so I insisted I receive a call from somebody after speaking with the answering service and explained how upset I was and how they just left my husband the way they did. After some time nobody returned my call. I again called and said I would like the doctor to call. Nothing. Today...a week later they called for his insurance info to do the "surgery" tomorrow. I said how unprofessional and upsetting it was that nobody returned our inquiries and she stated how she could certainly understand my upsetness and I made it clear that I didn't want her to feel like I was shooting the messenger and to please have someone call. She said she would relay the message and someone would return my call. Later that day another insurance seeking lady named Erin called stating she knew nothing of my plight and only wanted my insurance info and I repeated my concern for the lack of communication and how the initial consult went and that I would like to discuss this unexpected surgery with the doctor. She started by mentioning that my husband did not pass out and that they had placed a cool rag on him and moved him to another room. I stated that if my husband of 31 years said he passed out then he passed out. And why would they place a cool rag on him and move him to another room if nothing happened? She made it clear she would not speak with me and stated that it was because I was yelling at her...I was sitting next to my husband and repeated what she had just said, my husband said "What?...you're kidding! She says you're yelling?" I asked her "Why are you saying that I'm yelling?" She answered with "I will have the doctor call you." I said "That would be nice...(with a giggle) should I just go ahead and wait for another week then?..thanks...you do that".The doctor called and asked for me and I said" This is she." he then proceeded to say who he was and I said "hello" and from that point he rolled with that it was his understanding that I yelled at his staff and when I started to respond with "no, I didn't,"he interjected said something unintelligible and then hung up. Well, I guess that's how matters are dealt with in their arena. Speaks volumes! Wouldn't any professional want to ASK a client? If for no other reason than to at the very least feel out the situation and gauge whether or not what they are calling about holds any merit with initial impressions made by the accused? Maybe a phone call a week earlier or after my husband passed out should've had such a good response time. If I didn't know any better I'd have to say that this Dr's phone call felt more like Erin was complaining about it to the good doctor and her "lover" was ordered to defend her honor. It didn't seem professional at all...very strange.

It is apparent that Dr. Monsul is not accustomed to working with children and their parents or having his actions questioned. We were referred to him by a dermatologist for a small cyst on my daughter's eyelid. When I said I thought that it appeared to be different than a "stye" he remarked that it probably was a chalazion or as you laymen call it a sty. He then spent several minutes looking at her right eye and making comments to the nurse using complicated medical terminology which I understood, unfortunately my daughter did not and it was scaring her. So I pointed out to him that the problem was with the left eye. His reaction was quick, unwarranted and quite defensive. He told me he was aware where the problem was and that if i wanted to do his job he would step out of the way. He went on to inform me that he did not have to explain his methods or procedures to me. I calmly took his chastisement for the sake of my daughter and finished the appointment. In dictating the letter to my daughter's primary physician, he had to stop several times in order to obtain the correct information. We will NOT be returning for the follow up visit. As we were leaving the office my daughter said, "What a douche."
