I’m 37yrs old, 5’6’ & 185lbs I had my upper & lower abdomen & my waist done, I’m at 1 1/2wk post op. I was apprehensive at first, but not only was the staff very welcoming~ Ciana Aguerrevere was the absolute BEST! I was intrigued b/c I was so frustrated & disgusted with my body...I’d hated it for 2yrs. Ciana took all 20 of my phone calls to answer my questions & explain things to me. She literally eased all my fears. She never pressured me to hurry up & make a decision. It took me a good minute to decide & by the time I was ready, the appt that she had originally offered had been booked. It was no fault of Ciana’s, I had delayed committing to the procedure & I understood they couldn’t hold it, but Ciana already had another appt ready for me as a backup that would coincide with the dates I’d already taken off... which was great!
I met with the surgeon, Stephanie Ohberman, she’s dry & kind of a “matter of fact” person. Which is totally fine, she does a great job and that’s what’s important. She took my pics, gave me my scripts & sent me on my way. Surgery was at 7:30am & Ciana came to be with me, b/c yes..I was that scared…I’ll tell ya, I didn’t feel a thing…not the pain of the numbing agent in my belly, nor the actual lipo itself. Even when she stuck me in my stomach with a needle. I don’t actually even remember much of it. I woke up as they had about 15-20min left of the procedure & I didn’t hear any sucking noise. I had 2 trash bags covering my car seat to prevent stains from leaking & was prepared to sleep on plastic liners if need be, but I had no leakage. I was sore, I honestly slept most of that day, but when I did wake up I got up & walked for 20min as recommended...it feels better to move. The longer you stay still, the more everything locks into that position. Dr Ohberman called me that evening to check up on me. That first night I woke up every 1-2hrs. At 24hrs I wanted a shower. I’d heard that the water stung the sutures, but I never felt any burning from water touching them. The next day was actually more painful, maybe b/c their pain meds finally wear off. I still liked moving around to keep everything malleable. My surgery was on a Sat & I went back to work Monday. Each day gets easier. The hard rock-like formations inside do make my stomach look just a little disfigured, but I knead them in the shower & continue to work them out while my garment’s in the wash. I’m not panicked that they’re permanent.
When I went back for my one week check-up, the staff at Overland Park was incredibly nice. It was a Saturday & Memorial Day weekend, but they were warm nonetheless. The nurse practitioner, Julie is very sweet, she took vitals & pics, went over what comes next & helped me pick out & order another garment. I didn’t feel like I had to get another one. They do give you one for free & you’re welcome to stick with that one. I believe I’m starting to feel the rubber band snaps, or electric twitches as the nerve endings grow back together, but I think the key is to keep the white elastic waistband on tight b/c I barely notice them. I’ve tried to touch on everything that scared me when I was contemplating this decision in effort to help someone else. Although I haven’t lost much weight due to the swelling, I can see a difference, my stomach is noticeably flatter & was within the first week. I’m excited to see the rest of the results come thru. Do I regret it? No. Like Ciana said, the only regret is that you wish you would’ve done it sooner & she’s right. I wish I would’ve done this last year.
