Great surgeon but office refused my BC/B'S when I went for implant after Mastectomy asking to pay out of pocket $2,000. I went to another plastic Surgeon in Ft Washington, and they said the at his office was wrong to do that BC/B'S should have been accepted. Very stressful to deal with his office after Breast Cancer!!!

I learned to do extensive research on plastic surgeons after enduring a collapsed rhinoplasty in 1999 when I was only 19 and picked a plastic surgeon out of a phone book. At 28 I went for a revision and again I went with the first surgeon I found based on his flashy Manhattan office. That NYC surgeon made my nose so narrow I couldn’t breathe and had to see a facial surgeon and an ENT to correct the problems. Now, at 38, I used that wisdom gained and interviewed many surgeons for an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and breast augmentation (implants). I had heard implant horror stories and I believed the abdominoplasty to be a serious surgery. I have two children now and took these surgeries very seriously. Dr. Steven Copit, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, was the last of four surgeons I met with. His office was professional, but not ostentatious like others I had been in. His staff were positive and seemed to enjoy working there. The environment was great which has been my consistent experience with Jefferson. When I was introduced to Dr. Copit, I met a very confident, poised, and positive surgeon. My intuition told me I had just found the best surgeon. He reminded me I’d be under the care of Jefferson anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and doctors. I had never thought about the entire team that would be caring for me and how important it was that their credentials matched that of the surgeon. The double surgery was four hours long, but I went in calm because Dr. Copit’s confidence is contagious. I never doubted the results, but when I saw how he reshaped and remade my body, I cried. I thought maybe he had done a head transplant because I didn’t recognize my own body. The outcome exceeded all my expectations. I had a twenty-four hour hospital stay where I was treated with compassion and kindness from the entire Jefferson team. I believed my recovery was faster too because of Jefferson and Dr. Copit. I can’t emphasis enough not just how incredible the outcome was, and how happy it has made me, but how compassionate and professional the care was.

Dr.Copit was the best part of my experience with breast cancer. Although I loved all of my doctors, throughout the year long experience, Dr. Copit is the one who gave me back something I wouldn't otherwise have had. I didn't fully appreciate his skill with breast reconstruction until I went for my follow up visit with my oncologist. His nurse practitioner asked to examine my breasts and she exclaimed, "Wow, you are really symmetrical!" I expected to be symmetrical when I came out of the procedure, but apparently this isn't always the norm. Especially since I had a unilateral mastectomy, it was more of a challenge for Dr. Copit to match the new breast to my existing breast. The near perfect outcome I experienced was also heralded by the technician who did my first post surgery mammogram on my natural breast. She also commented on the symmetry and, in her words, "beauty" of my breasts which is quite a compliment from someone who sees a lots of breasts! She went on to share the experience of a friend who had a bilateral mastectomy and whose outcome she described as a "uniboob"with no cleavage with which her friend was very unhappy! On the recommendation of my breast surgeon, I went out-of-network to utilize the skills of Dr. Copit. I have no regrets and am entirely satisfied with my results. Besides being an excellent surgeon, Dr. Copit was very helpful and insightful when I consulted with him regarding my treatments. Thank you Dr. Copit for making me even better than I was before and for giving me back my femininity.
